Thank you EQ devs, I have been looking for some reliable hints as well without spoiling the game. You guys are amazing. I have enjoyed this game immensly and continue to try to promote it to friends and those visiting my stream.
I can not say enough good things about it!!
Hey there EQ, thanks for the link. It pushed me past the hump in the game and I finished it with 98% complete :)
Steam says I missed 8 achievements so I might have to go back and look a bit harder.
I noticed that the light switch in the cabin wasn't working and I suspected it did something but I couldn't understand where or how the cross would come into play.
I wanted to share my thoughts with you on the game since you seem very involved in your community here.
First, great game. I am not a great detective but the clues were good enough that I could follow them. I only got stuck a few times and the hint above helped push me through. I also had to search online one other time for the safe combination in the mansion which I shouldn't have done because you learn that easily later.
I'm curious... why is this set in the United States when the country is clearly England? It reminds me of Somerset.
Hardest Parts for me:
Thanks for the great game. Oh I just remembered the hardest one of all.
I would have NEVER found the stump next to the playground if I didn't run back and forth to the cabin 20 times and accidentally run off the path. I didn't realize that part was even accessible!
When we first developed the game, we came across an image and it felt perfect for the game's atmosphere and environment. Later, we researched real locations that resemble it and found Castle Combe by accident. It was used as our inspiration for developing Painscreek. However, we have never been to England and are not familiar with things there. We are also more comfortable with how addresses and phone numbers are listed in America. That's how TPK turned out to be. I guess this caused an issue with some of the players. We will try to avoid this problem in future games.
We designed the game where the main storyline can be unlocked without too much difficulty. This is for players who want to focus on finding the truth about Vivian's murder. Anything outside of the main storyline, whether directly or indirectly linked, will be harder to unlock. One example is the hidden panel in the inn. Unlocking it provides you with more backstory, yet it won't hamper the main storyline if players could not unlock it. Having said that, the secret room in the Church and the Cabinwere meant to challenge all players because they serve as crucial plot-points to the player's investigation.
That was meant to be a side story and not meant to just be stumbled upon although you can definitely do that :) There are actual clues on how to unlock it, and discovering its content would reward players with a certain NPC's storyline.
Thank you for liking the game. Hope this answers your questions :)
Thank you for enjoying our game! Hearing that makes us want to create even better games :)
No don't! I loved the town design.
Also, go visit England on your next vacation :)
That stump was the first thing i found "in" town
Oh the "curse" of playing all those RPGs and adventure games where you always go the oposite way of what the game wants, because secrets..
The Dates was what put most of us off. Americans dont know how to date
