Is this game a horror one?
I haven't progressed far yet, only checked the mansion and the hospital.. But i have encountered few things on my way:
- I saw a ghost of a woman near the mansion, towards the locked gate that leads behind it.
- I heard mutiple loud door knocks when i was on the second floor of the mansion. I went downstairs and there was no one. I soon suspected it was that standing woman out there but who knows?
- Now i'm in the hospital and out of the sudden, the lights went off.. Perhaps it has a logical explaination but i have watched enough horror movies to know there is something wrong!

Now i feel like i'm kind of over reacting but i just want to make sure there are no jump scares or similiar stuff involved.. If so, i can not possibly continue playing.

Hi, although the game contains some supernatural content, there are no jump scares at all. The ghost that you see is not there to scare you, but to inform you of something important at that place. As for the knocks and the hospital lights going off, those can be clarified/justified later in the game. This is purely an investigation game.

Hope that helps.

Appreciate the response. At some point i thought i bought the wrong game because my initial assumption of it was an investigation game. I have progressed a bit further now and yes, it is as you said. The game is awesome so far. Appreciate your work and my apologies for any inconvenience.

I'm currently feeling the exact same way! I'm not far into the game and already encountered that lady in black, and the loud knock... I thought this was a investigative game? Did I buy a horror game? because I am not down for jump scares! lol, I'll hit that Esc key so fast :-) It was going pretty cool and chill until that lady showed up behind the gate. Now I'm walking through the mansion with the feeling shes going to show up for random scares. And if hospitals aren't creepy enough... especially being abandoned, I can't wait to have the lights go out!

loool.. This is the exact same feelings i had.. I felt like i'm being chased, like a subject of a sick man hunt and i'm really a coward when it comes to horror games :D
But rest assured.. There will be nothing of significant.. In fact, what you have encountered so far is far worse and horrific than what may come next so rest assured :D

It's technically not a horror game, but good god the game really makes me tense up. The musical score, the fact that you are completely alone in the entire environment, I always keep expecting something to pop up and give me a bloody heart attack XD

Hope this is a compliment :D

Just had my first encounter with her and had to come and look at this thread. Saw some creepy text written somewhere and just thought yeah, whatever, no one's coming for us as this isn't a horror game, time to move on.... NOOO WHAT IS THAT?!

Good to know I'll be safe for the rest of the game though :steamhappy:

I'm glad I encountered this thread, so I can be prepared! I honestly considered quitting the game and never resuming when I exited the fire house and the girl in black was just standing there across the river, and when I looked again she was gone. I was so friggin terrified! Now I only play this game during the daytime, and then cozier, less creepy games in the evening, haha :steamhappy:

Thank goddess!

I just got to the part with the hospital lights turning off spontaneously (right after reading one of the nurse's diaries about a "drenched woman") and I had to stop playing right there and then. I swear I almost had a heart attack!

I don't mind games that are atmospherically scary or surreal, but I absolutely hate jump scares!

Glad to know this game won't be relying on those, as I am really enjoying the investigative note-taking and mystery solving parts. :)

I've been doing the game for a while and haven't seen this. One of the good things about the game is that there are a number of routes to take, so the ghost aspects don't to be close to the beginning.

It's kind of hard to say anything about this without spoiling things, but i do feel there are horror elements included in the game. I'll split it into two parts to try and prevent overall spoilers (i won't mention the big reveal). It's near the end of the game. The only tape recorder in the game (not including answering machines) triggers the scarier ending. It's in a drawer. Once you find it do not click on it. Avoid it, find everything else, and leave in your car or by the roads. You won't get the 'best' ending but you will get the opportuity to solve the case. The scary part is a sudden chase sequence that can get your heart pounding.

No. I thought this game will be more dark and spooky, but its not. But very boring.... Go play INFRA what is much more entertaining in the same genre.

It is not a horror game, it is rather atmospheric.

I wish you had more to contribute to the community.

I've got to say to me this is a murder mystery with psychological horror elements added. I feel like the EQ crew and myself share a certain love of psychological horror films that do not use any jumps scares - just slow burning feelings of dread that increase within you as the game/film progresses. Two particular moments in the game so far, already mentioned above, have made me feel so uneasy while playing that I'm litterally tip-toeing around the mansion and hospital scenes. Add in the music for those scenes, which is nothing short of terrifying, and you've got a very tense and uneasy experience to deal with.

And I like horror! This game is the bomb.
