I dont really like using downloaded tactics. I want to use my own.
I think football manager getting hard every year. I was also getting hard time with this game. You need to watch your 3-4 match as a full match if you want to prepare a working tactic for your team and set very specific instruction to your team and players. Its the only advice I can give you
First set up tactic. If you want to use only one tactic the whole season you have to make sure that 10 players can control all the field to every tactic they will play againts (you can see the green light in the tactic)
But if your tactic isn't perfect in all areas you have to make another tactic to change when the first tactic isn't work.
Second set up position and role. I recommend you to set up by position not by players quality. Each position should support each other (you can see the detail of each position and role). If you set up wrong in some position the player will play alone and not pass or support other players.
Third set up tactic detail. This is the most important part. If you want to make attacking tactic set up higher-much higher tempo, pass to space, work into box.
If you want to control the game keeping possession set up retain possession and short passing.
If you want your team shape perfect set up more discipline.
More than the tactic I found team performance each game depends on many reasons:
- Tactic 25%
- Post match 20%
- Pep talk 20%
- Shout 15%
- Players 10%
- Briefing 5%
- Training 5%
1 - You just need a tactic that gets you a finish slightly above where your team is expected to finish. (i.e. expected to finish 20th and finish 17th).
2 - It's then just a question of bringing in better players.
Erm 433 (3 strikers) is a valid tactic. I've used it myself in the lower leagues and as long as your front 3 can press and your midfield three can do the same, it works wonders.
This is my 4-3-3 current tactics that I just made:
--------------GK
FB(sup) CB CB FB(atk)
----------DLP(def)
--- CM(sup) AP(sup)
T(atk) CF(sup) IF(sup)
Instructions: Play out of defense, shorter passing, control, flexible
I only played 1 friendly match and lost 1-0 against some random team and we only had 54% possession. We did have plenty of chances but like aways their GK saved them all.
Am I too early to judge?
1. Try to change your Pep talk and shout every 15 minutes
2. Look to your team stat half time and full time find out which player (position/duty/role) lose too many ball passes then noted it.... too many support position is not too good (always try to killer pass/risky pass)
3. Play out of defense means your team will always pass the ball to defender, this is dangerous if your opposition change tactic pressing to your defense
4. Try more discipline, Retaining possession and Increase tempo
5. Try match tactic training in first few months until some players understand your tactic playing style
6. Try briefing players every matches
7. Set position training to your players
