Teams to Play
Hey all I want some suggestions on easy teams to learn how to play. I've been on and off FM18 for years and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck. I just lost against 3 games in a row in my start of the season and my team if mega demoralized. I'm playing a normal 442.

My players have the stars and good stats but ♥♥♥♥ just won't work. It's so infuritating when my players can't hold onto the ball, punt everything, and watching my strikers fail to get a shot off. I won two games.

Both the team that I played had defenders kick the ball back for a goal or a scramble ended badly. Only ONE goal from my team was genuine and it came from a mistake from a defender.

I just had a meltdown and decided to go into the editor where I terminated the other teams contracts. Cause quite honestly ♥♥♥♥'em. I want a lower difficulty.

You can always download a community tactic. The highest rated ones tend to make the game rather easy as a 4-4-2 is usually pretty awful

FM18 is really hard compared to previous in my opinion
These guides might help you out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_IpU-xMePo&list=PLOHqunb7yGybR7yo2ijOHikWzpMHiL0WL
i helps you figure out why a tactic is or isnt working for you. Going into squid depth. But even better going into the pattern of play of a individual player. So lets say you play with Barcelona you would expect it would be a easy run. But players score like ♥♥♥♥ or let allot of balls trough. It might be the way a player doing a certain small thing that destroys the whole flow

and if finances are the problem
start with any of these teams, these are the sugar daddy clubs

Also always look at the team report thing where you can see the number of players you have on each position and how good they are, it helps you build up a tactic suitable for your team :)

true but it combines players with multiple positions so a player who can play dc and mc so it looks like you have more , you need to go into squiad depth and make sure a player is 1 position then you can see how much you really have ,

I use squad depth alot and have at times gone and given my team a bunch of cash but I want to make a real team. Using real tactics and be rewarded for it. I mean i'm going to take a look at these community tactics but ♥♥♥♥ man why is this game so much more difficult than it needs to be?

Isn't 442 like the most standard tactic in the whole world? Why are my players in a lower league unable to pass the ball when there 28 and have played for premiership level teams? You'd think they get good at BASIC ♥♥♥♥ like that. But no they pass it right to the feet of the wrong team. God this game lacks the ability of common sense. Jesus I ranted again here.

Anyways i'll take a look at community tactics and that list. Thank you all!

Coventry City is a very good team to experiment with. They are a recently relegated side in Sky Bet League Two and have a superb squad (a small, easy-to-manage squad with some great U23s) that can basically roll all over every other team in the league.
Because of the club's stature you can typically sign any player you can afford without worrying about competition from other clubs, and despite their relative strength in comparison to the rest in the league the board do not hold you to high expectations.
Due to the history of the club they come with good training facilities a huge stadium, which really fills up once you manage to get promoted and money really starts to roll in.

In my first "messing around" save trying out the new FM18 features I won the Checkatrade Trophy and was promoted from League Two as champions in my first season, in my second I was promoted as champions again to the Championship. If I can, anyone can.

If you do play as Coventry here is some tactical advice: -

The first thing you should do is strengthen central midfield. Get Jeff King on loan from Bolton U23s, he's amazing and in my game they even released him at the end of the season so I was able to sign him on a free transfer! He was still tearing it up even against Bolton in the Championship.

In terms of tactics I'd advise playing 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 narrow to make use of your key players. Jodi Jones is a Championship-level left winger who also has a good potential as a striker next to Marc McNulty and Kwame Thomas, the latter of whom developed into a monster for me.
Your fullbacks are amazing, and Ryan Haynes is essentially a wonderkid.
Chris Stokes is out on loan. When he comes back at the end of the season he and Jordan Willis are quite a beastly CB pairing, and until then Dominic Hyam is a great youngster to train up.
Lee Burge is also a superb keeper who draws a lot of bids from Premier League sides, but I'd recommend signing Billy O'Brien on a free as he turns out to be an incredibly good backup.

You do start with nothing in the budget, but if you need money you can sell Chris Stokes (second choice left fullback) and Jodi Jones for a fortune and play with a 4-4-2 diamond narrow. You could also sell Stuart Beavon as he's a good striker but quite old and easily replaced with your young prospects like Kwame Thomas and Jordan Ponticelli. You could even sell Lee Burge for a fortune, Billy O'Brien eventually makes a good replacement.

Edit: This ended up much longer than I was expecting, but if you try it I'd love to hear back.

4-2-3-1 attacking always works

Played Comb Rambers in irish First Division. Started well with a 6-2 win. I was ecstatic...and then lost every fricking game after. I then edited stats in cause why not and I started winning again. Went on vacation to speed up the league (I really want less games per season... any league with like 20 games?).

I used two community tactics but ♥♥♥♥ just fell apart. Part of it is that I don't want to play I guess but it's simulation. It shoudn't be THIS hard to get the right players in the right role.

Trying Coventry City next to see what happens.
