Can they please remove the "potential ability" from Scouting
Its impossible to know anyones potential IRL

Remove it so that human managers makes more mistakes in signing

The PA doesn't say everything, you can still ruin a player with a PA of 180 and higher. There are enough potential wonderkids that won't make it in-game, due to training/matches/team etc. Just like in real life.

Also you talk about numbers, but without checking database beforehand or with an editor afterward it's impossible to know it, and there it is what your scout think about it, and that is already much different than a number.

I have never liked the way you can scout a player a few times and know all his attributes. I remember in one of Fergusons books saying that Van Persie was a much better player than he thought after seeing him in training. If a top manager and a top scouting team can still be suprised when signing a world class player then it should be impossible to know everything about them until you have actually managed a player.

Personally I would like the OPTION to hide the attributes altogether. Going by stats and how the players perform when watching them in the match engine, would for me bring the franchise to life and make scouting much more realistic.

There has to be some way of your scouts indiciating their opinion of a player's liklihood to develope into something special.

Youth players in particular are never signed on the basis of what they show on the day they are watched, but a considered opinion from an experienced scout that they have some unknowable potential that could be accessed with correct training and coaching.

Though the system in FM is nowhere near perfact, there's enough obfuscation of the true potential and so many factors that can realise (or not) that potential, that it is sufficient as it is.

Doubtless it'll get updated and overhauled in a future release. Keep in mind, if they created the perfect game for FM18, what would be left to improve in order to continue to sell future iterations?

Just a tip, i've found ALOT of players with 190+ PA and they didnt get stats even near of a neymar or a sergio ramos, theres so much more that dictates if a player will develop or not like ambition, professionalism and some other invisible attributes. Those attributes varies from 0 to 20.
If a player with 16 years old have 190PA and 8 ambition / 8 professionalism he will NEVER reach 190CA, maybe 160 at best. You gotta learn how those invisible attributes work.

You have that option dont scout them. Back in titles before the 3d engines thats the only way I played and to some decent success. I followed a DMC in the N/S leagues and signed him while in lg2+ cant remember but he was a stud. Very satisfying to scout this way but with modern versions of FM if you play this way it would be FM19 before you finished a season

I mainly used man of match/games played, goals+ast/minutes, headers won/lost, tackles won/lost, and goalies concedes/minutes. May actually turtle a season doing this again

The PA is actually taken from a PPA (Player Perceived Ability) so isn't always accurate.

Just because a scout thinks someone has loads of potential, doesn't always mean they do. Also even if the player does have a huge PA, there's no guarantee he'll reach it given other hidden attributes and their luck with injuries etc.

there is already hiding players attributes option, before you load a database, tick that "hide players attributes"

Is that in the normal version or the touch version? I cant see the "hide players attributes" on the full version. Only disable attribute masking.

Edit: So I downloaded touch and there is the option to mask attributes pre-career (behind a paywall). Annoying its in that version if the technology is there to mask the attributes. I'd have paid 79p to unlock it for the full version, or even pre-ordered FM18 if it had the option.

How often wre they wrong in assesing potential thats the key question to be able to have the system you have now. If the scouts are wrong 80 percent of the time leave it as it is. If the scouts are right 50 percent of the time its too good and should be taken out

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Options is what makes a good game. You want potential removed from a scout's report? Why not have pre-game box to tick the option.

You want all scout reports to be deadly accurate? Why not have a box to tick the option?

Want the scouts how they are now? Just don't tick the other options.

Everyone is happy. :)
