Youth Intake
Have they finally fixed the youth intake system?

Every year despite having number one...best coaches......scouts.....facilities and winning the league a gizzillion times along with becoming the greatest club who ever exisited.......every year its the same old crap youth intake who wouldnt get into a vanderam side let alone the Premier League but of course the twist in this tale is that when you look at (and I mean actually take over just to prove the point) other top clubs in the league they usually have at least 3 or 4 "Possibly the best player of his generation" type re-gens.....

So.......have they? Finally fixed the youth system or is it still pointless building up and improving facilities etc

I had the same problem. Then I realised I had to improve junior coaching budget.

There are other board requests you need to make in order to get good youth prospects.

You can totally get good regends if you upgrade the right things.

I would imagine they have not made the system that already works any worse.

Doesn't matter how good your youth system is and how much you spend on it, there's no guarantee that you'll get anybody good through it. That's true in real life, so why shouldn't it be in the game too?

I always had good youths in FM... always. Not every year wonderkids but always 1-3 great future prospects. Problem is i usually do not have patience to wait for them develop.

I do wonder if some of you actually read what people write on forums......you don't do yourselves any favours by posting without reading it just makes you look less enlightened.

(TeknoTei) I said I already had the best of everything

(Kapika96) Year in Year out certain clubs get good youth players not always once in a generation regens but a collection of good youth teams thats true in real life too.....i.e certain clubs in south america and spain and even a couple in the UK just like real life.......oh wait that is real life.....plus it is well documented that certain clubs in the past gamewise have a better chance of spawning better and more regens.

Lets try and keep this simple then. Does the game now change its algorithms for youth intakes in clubs that you take from league 2 to winning the champions league or do you still, dispite upgrading everything < EVERY FACILITY/COACH/NETWORK to No.1 and winning everything for an entire generation, have crap intakes unless you are at certain clubs that have game coding to produce regens?

These forums are utterly useless for information which is pretty sad........

Would be nice if the developers could take a minute out of their busy schedule to answer such a menial question :steammocking:

*sigh* :steamsad:

Even the clubs that do have a good rep for their youth teams don't have that many coming directly from their own academy. Just look at the career history of a lot of top players and you'll see they often move from one youth side to another before finally getting their breakthrough. Teams like Barcelona and Arsenal are often buying young players from across Europe/the World to add to their academy rather than getting all of their players straight from their own academy.

I'm not sure the exact methodology the game uses, but I believe it takes in to account the country's youth rating, the population of the city the team is based in and how much competition there is for youth players with other local teams as well as your actual youth setup. So if your team is based in some middle of no where town where barely anyone lives... improving your teams rep and staff/facilities isn't really going to help that much.

Played with Bromley (london) in 17, always got one good player in the youth intake. by good i mean 1 star CA and anything from 3-5 star PA. From conference premier to EPL. They never made it to the galactic standards I wanted but they filled holes or showed promise for my first team, before becoming squad players or decent sales.

i think in the 10 seasons I played I had maybe one or two come in with a 2 star CA and solid 5 star PA, never had the time to develop beyond a season or two. Now 18 is here =)

The problem is people write off players with 3 star or under potential as 'crap' - yet if you actually train them right they can become great players - also the potential ratings change so much at young ages I've had players go from 3 stas to 5 stars potential over a year or two, even with an assistant with great judging attributes

It's worth mentioning that the potential ratings are directly related to how good your team is, so that could explain why they change.

It also means a 3 star potential means they'll likely end up around the same level as one of your average squad players, which if you're at a big club winning things is going to be a pretty high level anyways!
I've also noticed that the AI big clubs tend to get multiple wonderkids more often than you do. In 17 i tested this by saving a few days before the intake and reloading, and it took like 10+ tries just to get a single 4 star. Whereas city and chelsea get loads. Luckily you can now tempt them with money.

You never said you upgraded your youth level of junior coaching budget. You specifically said and I quote:

"best coaches......scouts.....facilities and winning the league a gizzillion times"

The fact you listed coaches ad winning the league just maybe think you have no idea how the mechanics work as they have nothing to do with what regens you get.

Also I didnt realise myself that junior coaching was a big deal until I looked it up. As soon as I got the board to upgrade this a few time sI started to get good regens. Sorry for trying to help you with 'useless' information.

So yeah I did read what you said you just sounded clueless and as I can get decent youth players in my game I know it was never broken.

No need to be a rude piec e of shi t. I hope you dont buy the game and dont post in these discussions again. No one said anything useless your just an ass. I hope the devs dont answer your question.
