Scouting help

Guys,
could somone post a link with scouting explanation? I feel a bit confused. It feels very different. Is it now a must to always go trough a list giving further orders like discard etc...???
They said it wont be as easy as before to find potential signings and players search wount be as it was before. BUt its still there. Seen scouting packages otpions but how do they relate on number of visible players?? Is it if my club buys worldwide scouting package instantly seeing all of the players??? If so is then a price for it too low?
So it would help if somone explains it a bit more cause FM videos are very general and in my opinion do not cover this too good.

I'm having troube with the amount a player is scouted. I'm managing in the lower end of the english leagues and my scouts can only get 3% of a players stats. i have no info to make signings.

Also when a playing is finished being scouted it doesn't pop up on the news feed like before, I have to go back into scouting to look for the report, is this correct or am I doing something wrong? If correct I do not like this way lol

I'd also like to have scout reports in my news feed, but it seems you have to go through the scouting tab --> players scouted, where you have to look for the players that you scouted.
I usually scout a lot of players at the same time (like when I specifically look for a centreback), and without the reports popping up in my news feed now I miss a lot of those reports and it's hard to keep track of which players I just had scouted.
It would be allright if we just had the possibility to get scouting reports for individual players in the news feed.

Exactly!!! Why? Is that more realistic??? Well I guess we will have to adopt this new UI and scouting reports

Yeh more realistic, I guess in real life the manager has to go around chasing the scouts up for there scout reports like we have to in fm18 haha

I got given two players: one 63/100 and one 11/100 recommendation. The 63 had "could be retrained as a central defender" and the 11 had "is very one footed". No attributes had been scouted apart from a range for tackling. No further information was found out.

This is broken, right?

i assume you mean how to assign a scout to an assignment?

in the Scouting window, in the top left there is a Scouting Responsibility pulldown menu. change this to Manager. after that you can go to the Assignments menu and individually set an assignment to each scout

yeah i'm pretty sure that's correct - no more emails in your inbox with each scouting report :(

instead these emails show up in the Scouting window...probably mixed in with all the other random reports your other scouts, coaches and data analysts submit

you also don't get notified the instant a report is ready...instead the report sits in your Scouting Inbox until enough reports accumulate and your Chief Scout emails you with a "Scouting Inbox is full...please read" email to your main inbox. if you don't visit your Scouting Inbox regularly, many dozen reports may sit there unread until your Chief Scout asks you to look at them

you can set how often your Chief Scout emails you asking to read any unread scouting reports by going to the Scouting Window and in the main panel in the top right there is a Preferences option where you can set how often you get an email in your main inbox asking you to read the scout reports (either a regular time period or when X number of reports are ready to read). ...or you can just visit your Scouting window often to see there are any reports

the one question i have is about costs and the Scouting Package...

it seems that the higher the package (and therefore the higher the cost) the more players i can see in the Player Search screen. ...my understanding is that this package setting DOES NOT affect the range that your scouts can see...only what players *I* see if i want to do a manual search

...so then why should i want to spend hundreds of pounds on this database if i'm not constantly doing manual player searches and am instead relying on sending my scouts out? especially since the cost of paying for the package is in addition to the cost of sending my scouts out
