Again, Danmek is about one rung higher than Xefros; and I think he's supposed to be studying butlering too. I may have misread something, but I thought I saw something that would indicate it.
Certainly gonna say it's part of it.
Perhaps Danmek has similar issues, but being of marginally higher caste, Xefros looks up to him, so D feels like he needs to be the "stronger" partner. And is overcompensating. But it's a lot of baseless speculation until Hauntswitch.
I'm already convinced that Danmek and Jude meeting will seem like gasoline being poured upon a fire, though.
Dude yes, it's going to be awesome.
All you really get are images, how his house looks, and what Xefros tells you about him, and everything more or less points to him being a "Kewl guy lel" who treats friends like trash, and... to be honest, is probly only "rebelling" due to a rebellious streak.
Who hoards guns for a supposed rebellion participant, but none of the guns seem to get used at all.
COULD be possible that in a way he's either starting a rebellion, or having some wierd scheme to inflte hiw own feeling of self-worth.
Either way, he seems like an Edgy teen who's mad at his "parents" s oto speak, and more or less a jerk. You can't really seem like a cool dude when 75% of your house's surface area is literally covered in guns, and hte other 20% is covered in uncleaned filth, while the 5% itself seems to be fairly garbage compared to say... Xefros' house who more or less just has a normal house, minus the absurd-level of polish the upper floor hallway has.
Basically I'm agreeing with myself that Dammek seems like a complete jerk in every way, but we still don't have any info that's actually totally useful.
I'm hoping Act 2 takes place on Earth between Jude and Dammek. I feel the two would get along wierdly well in a sense fitting of the two, sorta like Joey and Xefros.
Though i feel Jude would know why Dammek would be on Earth, swapped with his sister, so that would probly be really interesting.
Keep in mind that most of the trolls we met in Homestuck came off as pretty awful initially. I mean, Karkat was a shouty insulting jerk, while in her first appearance, Terezi straight-up murdered John. Equius came off as a bigot who tried to force Aradia into a relationship by making her robot-body fall in love with him. Eridan... ok Eridan was even worse than he seemed at first. But most of the others were ultimately alright-ish.
And that's not even getting into Vriska.
Well, when you put things that way. But yeah, not everyone's got a grounding in Homestuck from before, and some of us who do have probably forgotten some things in the interim.
Still, from what's been provided to us, Danmek still seems quite the troll turd.
Hating the Heiress for genocide? Pfff, it's not fancy! Let's hate Dammek instead for being not ideal friend and complex character!
As for me i hope to see more of him; already have my own theories about his motives.
From what I gathered with the things Xefros shared and the lore I picked up poking around his and Dammek's house, Dammek probably thinks that the things he does to Xefros help strengthen Xefros, and he probably worries over how soft and easily pushed around his Moirail is. Considering his love of action movies and heroes (as seen by his poster collection), he probably wants to be a hero and bring about change, which considering he is starting/leading a rebellion for the rustbloods against the Heiress, shows in some way that he cares about Xefros's safety.
Considering Moirails exist to support or better each other, my guess is at least in Dammek's eyes, he's just doing what he thinks is best for Xefros. And again, since this is a completely different culture based on pity/hate, what seems abusive to us humans is probably kindness to trolls. Misguided? Probably Yes. But in no way meanspirtedly intentional.
It'll be interesting to see how Xefros affects Dammek as his moirail. Perhaps he softens the otherwise super paranoid and rebelious Dammek? Perhaps he's the one person Dammek feels like he can really trust? I look forward to Hauntswitch and learning more.
(I also have no intentions of arguing to much about this. From what I have glimpsed, I don't dislike Dammek and I look forward to him and Jude's time to shine. =D)
