It's by definition not D&D but these posers are all fueled-up on their successes with the Comics industry
It's an action version of DnD but very in theme and hopefully it will be a good game. I honestly can't wait if it's even close to as good as the old ones.
Agreed. Calls itself Dungeons and Dragons and then does not let us make our own character. Fake D&D!
Also, I get tired of ranger and mage classes getting gender locked as female and the tough, warrior types are male. Such tired stereotypes get old....so do gender locked classes.
Oh well, at least I know to avoid this game.
There have always been some D&D-games that were not actually another transplant of the actual Pen&Paper-rules to RPG's.
There was even a D&D-arcade game.
And since this one is actually named 'Dark Alliance' there was a game called 'Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance' for PS2 in the early 2000's... not the best game ever (3 or 4 pre-made stereotypes for playable characters lol), but it was fun with friends. It seems like this upcoming one is going to be the same kind of game. A linear hack'n'slash set in the D&D-lore.
They are making the game for "Origin" characters who are pre-made by Larian. If you make a custom character, you miss out of much of the game. Just like in DOS. They want you to play the companions, not the main character.
As someone who just recently started watching Critical Role, is that really true? Do they actually script it? Doesn't seem like it from the outside. Would love to see any evidence you have. That's really interesting.
Also, what do you mean by "the DMs have banned at table rolls?" Again, I'm only in the early streams, but it seems like everyone is rolling at some point or another so I don't know what you mean. Care to clarify?
This.
No, the dude is either incredibly dumb, or just facilitating the meme. The Critical Role players joke about it a lot too.
