Bad Review Bombing
Most of the people leaving bad reviews didn't even give the game an hour's worth of time. I haven't played enough to say whether it is a great game or not yet, but it seems decent enough to me so far.

People who were just waiting around to bomb the game and give it negative reviews just because it didn't cater to exactly what they think the game should be, or the D&D elitists who hate it because whatever ridiculous reason, people who say the controls are really janky (I'm playing on a controller and it doesn't seem more than slightly janky. Also I'm getting used to it pretty quick, gotta give some time to get used to the controls for pretty much any game. If you don't own a generic controller as a gamer, I don't even know what you are doing, some games are just better with a controller), the people who are upset that multiplayer has bugs on release day (pretty much every game made does, or at least from what I've seen), are not giving this game a fair shake.

I would buy it and try it out for yourself at least before listening to any of these people. You can always refund. Man am I going to get flamed by the above groups of people for this. Luckily I don't care.

If I watch you make sandwich, and you put a cat turd on it as the last ingredient, do I really need to take a bite of that sandwich to know that it will taste terrible?

The same goes for needing to purchase this game to find out that it's a broken mess.

I'm not gonna say anything about you enjoying the game or not. Just let me ask this for those who review with less than an hour. What happens if they ran into multiple game breaking bugs and didn't like how clunky the game felt. Is that not enough reason to give the game a negative review. Just because you didn't experienced it does not meant others did not. Enjoy your game.

This is a lie. All of the top reviews are negative. They all have played far more than 1hour.

I find it hard to imagine that most people who give bad review just buy games to drop a bad score then refund. If they do play the game beyond 2 hours, then the chance to refund it will drop from 100% to 0.01%, so they don't want to risk that. People who experience a bad overall vibe just drop it and opt out for refund for that reason, not to smash the game's overall score.

I'm really enjoying the game so far. I am also using controller and playing as Drow. Friend played as archer (who im hearing is a popular choice) and he said she felt sluggish to play. I tried her and agree she was not super fun. I dont touch ranged attacks and my biggest tip is:

turn horizontal camera speed to max. This made the game much more responsive.

Music, voice acting, and environments are a joy. Im finding the parry system very fun and lots of different challenges to be had as far as difficulty.

Final note: the game largely feels like Marvel Avengers (which also got horrible reviews) and i enjoyed the hell out of it.. maxed 3 characters and felt good about my purchase. I'm sure i'll feel the same about this. Just isnt anything atm to scratch that fun loot grind coop brawler with buddies. All my buddies are also enjoying the game soooo... maybe cause we didnt read reviews or have low standards i dunno?

The majority of negative reviews are 1-4 hours and you don't need to eat rotten food to tell it's rotten.
Posts like these, from people who will defend anything and try to conjurer a conspiracy that for absolutely no reason, people are "review bombing" which is such an overused term that it's used by immature fanboys who slander any unfavourable criticism as having an alter motive to ruin a game's reputation as to avoid providing the non-existent counter argument to say why it's not a bad game.
omgitsbees Jun 22, 2021 @ 11:16am
There are already a lot of threads on this topic, the game is not being review bombed.

Its not only that. Even if there is review bombing, Steam usually finds out and the general score will become mix due to people finding the game enjoyable and giving it a good score. The thing is, the majority are trying the game out and are running into bugs and disliking the overall game. People who are enjoying the game right now can keep doing so, its their opinion. To call this review bombing is a joke tho.

Its gone from wary people pointing out how the game didn't look right > gameplay looking really clunky > reviews and pre-day 1 gameplay looking bad > Buggy game release. There were pretty big signs that this would not end well with most players. To say this was review bombing is idiotic.

Fundamental mechanical issues = Minutes of time, not hours, needed to give a bad review
BigDrock Jun 22, 2021 @ 11:18am
Let me guess, you got it free with game pass. I would assume the reviews reflect the people that put out actual money for this product.

That would sound plausible if:
1) You have actually read those reviews at least a bit. I made that research. And the said are nowhere near the usual slander because of one bug. Quite on the contrary, stating multiple negative points sometimes quite thoughtfully.
2) Cross referenced the negative reviews here with reviews on the internet, and chose those, that yet again, state multiple point of views and quite thoughtfully.
3) The opposite didn't exist - positive bombing. But it does. Some games are just good and you can tell right away. Some games are just really bad and you can tell right away.
