PC/Xbox crossplay (Not on steam only gamepass?)

What sort of ♥♥♥♥ is this. Was looking forward to playing it with my brother who only owns an xbox.
But I've already bought it on steam and read up you need to play it through xbox game pass on PC to team...

This means you can only invite other steam players. There is no crossplay. There isn't even functioning ai, not sure why anyone expected crossplay.

Because they announced that PC/Xbox players will be able to play together.
And PS4/PS5 have crossplay.

So what do you mean expecting? When we was told there will be proper crossplay

I didn't know that, well it doesn't have it as it uses the platform's native grouping options. I doubt it will get added at this point too with how poorly it is being received. This is DOA. The game is really bad by all accounts. Full of bugs, boring levels and bad balance. I mean just looking at it for a few minutes should make it obvious. I would refund if I were you.

Ok, so it does have cross play between PC and Xbox if you’re playing the game through Game Pass or bought through Windows store. If you send a game invite through your Xbox friend list, it will take your Steam friend to the store, and vice versa. While it sucks I’m the only one in my group of four with Game Pass, after breaking down and buying on Steam it was actually pretty fun. More so with friends than solo play. That’s also my review of the game. If you have a friend you want to play with, get it. Otherwise play on Game Pass or wait for a Steam sale.

They said it's bugged and are working on fixing crossplay. Use the discord for LFG for now.

I'm so flustered. Bought this game to play with someone on Xbox. Not every source specifies the difference between "windows 10" and "steam," so the current lack of steam (also windows 10 by the way) to xbox crossplay seriously makes me regret this purchase. No date for when steam can play with xbox--probably after all my friends aren't interested anymore. Waste of money.

Look at the day one patch notes it says right on there that gamepass isnt working with steam yet and its coming in a patch soon

sure, it's just ridiculous to expect me to look at the live patch notes for a game to decide beforehand whether i should buy it.

according to the official FAQ, which i DID check before buying:

Is cross-platform or cross-generation play supported?
Players on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows 10 can play together.
Currently, cross-generation play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is not supported but will be enabled in a future update.

i'm just irritated that i bought a copy of the game for windows 10, played it for hours waiting for my friends, and then had to find out that i can't play it with my friends until who knows when. it just doesnt feel good paying full price for a game that doesn't do what the official FAQ says. my friends are all done with it now because they got bored, which super sucks because i bet we really would've had fun together. at least we have tabletop d&d.
