Open class is by far the most difficult mode in the game. You have to perfect your clutch kicks, lines and throttle input, and sometimes the most upgraded car is not the fastest one. It's probably because the AI will adjust to your vehicle, and the fastest vehicles in the game are extremely hard to master, so you're setting yourself up to have to be an expert.

I don't know which one you're doing, but try to upgrade only tires and clutch and try it again. This worked for me back on the 360.

This is not an easy game by the way.

Wow totally worked. Who would have thought not upgrading your car would be the way to go
thanks :)

How does only upgrading the tires and clutch make your car more competitve? wouldnt other part upgrade give you better performance also? I did notice when i upgraded everything in the Baja starting class the car did only seem a little faster compared to the other cars but not as much of a difference as i thought. Perhaps upgrades are only useful in the longer races where endurance counts more?

Also when you upgrade does the field you race against also upgrade?

I think that's pretty much the whole thing, plus some AI shenanigans thrown in to inflate the challenge.

I've never been a fan of inflated difficulty in games, but I let that one slide because it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome game about desert racing with demanding simcade style physics that no one else had ever done before.

I haven't got around to playing HD yet but I have it and I hope a lot of people are down to do long races online.

Start a multiplayer group and organize some, please. My favorite thing are the long races in this game.

And I completely agree with the above. I'm cutting the game a lot of slack for what it delivers.
AI has some really wonky mechanics. Especially in rallies I am the last car to cross the finish line, but I can be 24 seconds ahead of 2nd place. They're basically cosmetic.
Where as in circuit races they're either far behind, or stubborn little pricks that just always seem to accelerate a bit faster on straights.

You know in rallies everyone is racing the clock right?

I'm thinking a friday night Baja 1000 around 8PM ET would be good. Even with class 11s it would be over before midnight.

I have no idea how the mp works but I would use either 4x4s, full size or whatever real class 10s buggies are I forget what they are in the game. Trophy trucks are too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous and I haven't played in a while. Full damage full physics all classes on course like it should be.

Let's tear that ♥♥♥♥ up

The cars that start behind me also overtake me, and get way ahead. Unless I'm missing something that should mean they're driving the course a lot faster than me. But final results say the opposite. If anything it might only be other class vehicles I'm seeing.

Agreed with everything. But time zones are a pain. 8PM is 2AM for me.

If you guys are going to org a regular meet and race every week or two weeks, i suggest using UTC as the time measurement, since that is like zulu time where we just + or - our tz based on that. Like i am 12+ UTC. So if someone says there is a race for 0200 then that would be 2pm my time (a day ahead). Better than having to convert GMT, PST etc

You could do a dry run and see how many ppl turn up and what the lag is like etc and how players behave on the track as well. Hopefully players will treat it seriously. Have no idea if its possible to vote kick players who are purposely crashing into other players. If there isnt then that is one suggestion i would give to the devs, but this game might just be a '..have fun guys..we wont be updating it.' Which would be a shame because i see potential for a sequel, little to no competition for off-road endurance racing. So if they wont support this game- with current oversights (no proper wheel support, black bar prob) or adding some minor changes to improve the game then they wont be honoring the playerbase for the future. Ramble over. lol.

Sounds right, because unless you specified it, all classes run the same course but only compete on time within their class.

I know the devs are watching the forums and chimed in a few times in the bugs thread to gather logs for an update.

Pretty sure there will be support for the game.

I'll start a thread for a dry run friday
