Report a translation problem
I'm setting up a session tonight for random races and there is a Baja 1000 tomorrow night.
Check out the group thread down the list and join if you want for the list of events.
We'll see how it goes. If the MP part if broken as well they will need to fix it.
The devs are watching the forums, I would post in the bugs thread as well.
If the netcode is broken this is a huge bummer
Report back with your findings please...
Played a bunch of games with one guy, then a few others in 3 players.
- One of them could never host a game. "Game not available" "This session is no longer available". His security was up at first, down after 2 tries. Still no go. He could join my game no problem. 3rd player could host games and join games no problem.
- Lag was very acceptable for us, but then again I got my ass handed to me by everyone I played against, so I was on my own a lot, looking out for chupacabras.
- Searching for games is hit and miss. I was in an open lobby for 45 minutes and the first player could not find my game. Had to invite him. This will be fun tonight for the 1000 test run.
Annoyances :
- For some reason, I assume because different types of events have different player limits, you can't do a circuit race and then just say let's do rallies. You have to start all over again and reinvite everyone in a new lobby. If there is a simpler way to do it, it's not readily apparent. When you're in the lobby waiting for players you should have complete freedom on event selection, just like when you're setting up for hosting. Once the lobby starts all you can do is change the track within the type of event you're in.
- The only option you have after a race is "restart". there is no option to return to lobby and set something else up keeping the same players. You have to start a new lobby for the new type of event you want and reinvite everyone all over again.
- You can fill slots in hill climbs and rally with AI, but not circuit races. Why?
- Once you finish your race, you cannot spectate.
- Rallyes and Baja events are limited to 6 players, everything else 15 players. Come on now....every type of event should be 15 players.
- Rally Races do not have an option to restrict only player classes and let AI drive whatever they want. If you restrict player classes, it appears it restricts AI classes to. Ironic since one of the loading screen text says that rallyes are fun because you have different types of vehicles on the track. AI should have their own class restriction options, completely independent from player class restrictions. The workaround to this is to NOT restrict classes and players must agree to choose same class vehicles, then AI is not restricted.
- Rally starts are not staggered, and there is no option to do it. Everyone starts at the same time and it can be a clusterfuzz with AI and/or other players and wreck time slips very early in the race.
Overall it was super fun but I find options can be lacking, and there is no fluidity between events, it's a hard quit and you set it up all over again and send invites.
This would benefit from a slight revamp.
It would be cool to also see the player's names above the truck.
How the lobbys work is great by the way, it's good to be able to mess around on the course before the race starts while waiting for players
There was definitely more star trek ♥♥♥♥ going on yesterday with teleporting trucks, but not on all tracks. The net predictions are pretty dramatic too, you'll see trucks holding 200 ft drifts when in fact the guy is just cruising on a straightaway.
Would be great though if they invested some money developing a reasonable online mode.
