If you had read my posts previously. You can download the game for free using one of the free DOS Games website. You then download DosBOX and run it from there. It works with Windows 8.1 and 10. You don't need to buy it on steam when you don't even have achievements with it.
Plus Battle Chess is not the best program and never will be. For it's time it was good when I was 8 years old. But in those 20+ years chess programs have advanced. I recommend Chessmaster: Grandmaster Edition instead that also has 3 animated battle chess sets for you to play with.
i am grateful for it, because my computer runs older games the best.
An abandonware site can legally host games but once they are commercial again they have to remove them upon request (or suffer potential legal consequences).
