Anyone buying this such as Greb, has just wasted their money! How naive can you be! I just read your review. You even mention the game doesn't have the proper animation sound effects. It only makes little beep sounds.

If you had read my posts previously. You can download the game for free using one of the free DOS Games website. You then download DosBOX and run it from there. It works with Windows 8.1 and 10. You don't need to buy it on steam when you don't even have achievements with it.

Plus Battle Chess is not the best program and never will be. For it's time it was good when I was 8 years old. But in those 20+ years chess programs have advanced. I recommend Chessmaster: Grandmaster Edition instead that also has 3 animated battle chess sets for you to play with.

i wish they had utilised the remade cd version that used soundblaster sound and sVGA graphics.. this one is a bit yuk for my likings...

As far as I know, even though Interplay went bankrupt they still hold a lot of intellectual and copyrights many of their games and assets. Interestingly enough, this very titled was attempted to be developed by another company, which Interplay sued and won the case over. I don't know if they still hold the rights to this specific game as a good deal of their rights and assets were sold in 2016.

Interplay never went bankrupt. Far as DOS games being freeware this is incorrect.
An abandonware site can legally host games but once they are commercial again they have to remove them upon request (or suffer potential legal consequences).
