Issues launching the game
We are working hard on a fix for the issue with game not launching properly, displaying a black screen and not progressing, but I'm afraid I don't have an ETA to share with you right now for when it'll be done.

In this thread I'm gonna list all the workarounds that have worked for some people. If you want to play the game right now then consider trying them all. If none of them work for you, please share your logs and dxdiags with us - more details on that in the second part of the post.

BEFORE YOU POST

1) If you have programs for your peripherals running (such as Razer Synapse/Chroma/Cortex, Steelseries Engine, Roccat Swarm or Logitech Gaming Software etc), try disabling them.

2) The game won't start if you have special symbols (such as + or ;) anywhere in the directory path (for example, if you have it installed in a folder like D:\+GAMES+\;WEEDCRAFT). For now you will have to move the game into a different path.

3) Make sure you have the newest display drivers. It's not uncommon for games to not work at all without proper drivers.

4) Go into your local files folder, find the "Weedcraft Inc" executable file and run it as administrator (rightclick and second option from the top).

5) While you're there, you can also try opening the game's settings launcher - open the game while holding CTRL (or alternatively, add -show-screen-selector to launch parameters) and there you can lower your resolution and graphics profile and see whether the game launches afterwards.

6) If you can, try installing the game on your C:\ drive and see if that helps.

7) Double-check whether your PC meets our minimum requirements.

8) Try fiddling around with Weedcraft Inc.exe properties - try different DPI settings and compatibility mode, turning fullscreen optimization on/off and see if anything helps.

LOGS

In order to fix the issue as soon as we can we need data on when exactly is it occurring and why. You can help us by sending us some logs. You can do it by using WeTransfer.com or any file-sharing website of your choice and posting the link here.

- Output log
Every time you start the game, it creates something called "Output log" which contains information about what occurs in the game's underbelly. You can find the output log here: %AppData%\..\LocalLow\Vile Monarch\Weedcraft Inc

- DxDiag
Dxdiag file contains information about your PC specs, your drivers' version and so on. To make one, you have to open the dxdiag.exe program (press your Windows key, type "dxdiag" and press enter), make sure you're running the 64 version (it opens by default on Windows 10, but you might need to switch using a button on older OS) and then choose "Save all data". This will create a text file you can send us.

- Crash dumps

It's unlikely this particular issue is creating any crash dumps, but regardless, it won't hurt to check those two locations and see if there are any - that would tremendously help us in identifying the core of the issue.

I've done all the tricks and attempts explained here. Nothing worked.
It sounds like a cool game, but this problem is critical. I am unable to use the game.

Hey, one more thing - could you tell us the exact model of your graphic card? Unfortunately DxDiags don't say the exact model of AMD cards, just the chipset series. But based on the info we have it looks like your machine doesn't meet our minimum system requirements. So while you might've been able to launch it, once the game starts requiring more resources your PC fails to load it.

Shame on me.

I have an old HD5850, and in fact running straight from the onboard chip the game worked.

I set the graphics to the minimum and I was able to run the application, however the in-game stock has disappeared and is not available even when harvesting herbs.

I played for the first time yesterday.
I had the black screen issue, which was solved after i ran it as administrator.
Then i played it without any issues for a few hours, even managed to relaunch it again twice after that.
Now today i turn on my PC, try to launch the game and i get the black screen issue all over again. This time no matter what i do (i tried all suggested solutions i could find), all i get is the black screen.
This is very confusing given that it eventually worked yesterday and i didnt change anything after i quit. Nor did i change anything today when i first tried to launch it.

Im on a win 10 64bit
-I7 3.7GHZ
-16GB ram
-GTX 1070 ti
Game is installed on the G drive.
All drivers are the latest (double checked before i posted this)

My problem is fixed, it doesnt require the game to be launched as admin.
It requires steam itself to be launched as admin.
This is an issue not limited to this game, but its incredibly annoying as it leads to wild confusing goose chases like this.

Launching steam as admin fixes this black screen issue for me.

EDIT:
Went for dinner, shut down game, came back to relaunch game and were back staring at the black screen. (steam was still launched as admin)
Several restarts done, launching steam + game as admin makes no difference, it remains a black screen.

This is an issue not limited to this game, but its incredibly annoying as it leads to wild confusing goose chases like this.

Launching steam as admin fixes this black screen issue for me.

EDIT:
Went for dinner, shut down game, came back to relaunch game and were back staring at the black screen. (steam was still launched as admin)
Several restarts done, launching steam + game as admin makes no difference, it remains a black screen.

If you read the previous messages, you would see that everyone has the following picture: something changed in the settings ... it worked, played, turned off. And then it stops working.

Game worked fine last night. loading issue stared after last update. Restaring steam fixed it. Didn't have to run anything as admin.

Yesterday i launched & exited the game 5 times without issues, after reinstalling it on my C drive.
Before i did that i could not relaunch the game after i exited it the first time.
Went to bed shut down PC and today it aint working again :-).

It ran fine the first time. When the unskippable logos were running, I started bashing every key combination I could think of to skip it. (I know who made the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. If I didn't, I wouldn't have bought it. Unskippable logo pages are condescending and insulting).

When the unbelievably loud music kicked in, I just forced closed the game and decided I'd come back to it later, since I was now frustrated with it.

Since then, every time I try to launch the game, it's all black screen all the time. I tried new drivers, using the settings menu - I basically went down your list. Nothing works now.

I guess it's time to refund. /shrug

(Also, this bug has been a thing for 5 months, apparently. I would post a log, but it doesn't look like those are helping, and the devs seem to have no idea how to fix this, which is why I'm going straight to refund).

Problem: black screen while game loading. (Windows)

Possible solution 1:
1. Reboot your PC

Possible solution 2:
1. Open folder with saved files: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Weedcraft Inc\
2. Move all files to the other folder
3. REBOOT YOUR PC.
4. Launch the game.
5. If game not launched - sorry, my solution is not for you.
6. Open folder with moved saved files.
7. Take one of the latest save file.
8. Move it to the folder %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Weedcraft Inc\
9. Reboot your PC again, lol.
10. Run the game and enjoy.

P.S. every time when you have this problem - try to reboot you pc at first, and then - solution 2.

P.P.S. Devs - thank you for the high quality product with amazing heisenbugs, I spent about 2 hours trying to run the game.

2. В папке находятся сохранения игры. Перемещаем их в другое место (папка с сохранениями должна быть пустой).
3. ПЕРЕЗАГРУЖАЕМ КОМП.
4. Запускаем игру.
5. Если игра не запустилась - увы, мой способ вам не подходит.
6. Открываем папку с сохраненными играми.
7. Берем один из последних файлов.
8. Помещаем его в папку %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Weedcraft Inc\
9. Снова перезагружаем комп
10. Запускаем игру и наслаждаемся.

If this issue occurs for you again, would it be possible to send us your save folder to see if we can reproduce the issue locally and figure out what's causing it? We'd really appreciate it.

I wanted to drop in and share my experience in dealing with crashes after loading. Initially, after about an hour of play time, loading a saved game would cause the game to become unresponsive or crash. I tried restarting, changing file directories to the C drive, reinstalling, launching as admin and none of these things worked for me. What seems to be working for me, however, was running the game from the settings launcher (hold the Ctrl key while double clicking the executable file). After setting the game to run in a borderless window from the in game settings, it seems I'm able to launch the game normally through Steam again.

Hope this helps anyone.
