Altough 18k profits for three consecutive months is way out of my reach so far.
For selling they might work but planting isnt working with employees.
Yeah unfortunately employees are only worth using to sell, research lab, front business. They can grow somewhat efficiently late game once you have them leveled up but they cost like 800+ to maintain due to how efficient they grow. But even then I dont think they're capable of pumping out consistent rare or epic quality with perfect bud conditions.
I personally don't really enjoy hoping from grow house to grow house to micro manage all of my plants and once you get introduced to a new city its even more cumbersome and stressful. If you don't keep up with your old city your employees will likely end up in jail.
It is a bit annoying when you grow a fat batch and its sold immediately. You just feel like you're stuck in this constant loop of having to sit in the grow room the entire game. Early game I wasn't a fan of the whole nutrients min-maxing. I spent way too much time worrying about that when the research lab should have been unlocked earlier in my opinion.
Heres a pic from the 2nd city incase you didnt believe me or were just curious as to what im saying
Edit - most of that stocked weed is Legendary quality too :P

You need to talk with the cops in the early game, befriend them, and when you get employee's going. Have an employee start gathering dirt on them.
You're not growing weed to just grow weed, you're growing weed to sell it. Look at the customers you want to target and their price threshold and preferred weed/grade. Typically you want to target the people willing to spend more per gram.
Then you adjust your grow to meet the needs.
Hope this helps.
For the most part, still using medium level grow equipment.
Another tip, dont take on more rent if you cant afford it. Have a plan in place when you do expand, a target customer and plant your going to grow.
You can always leave a building you just bought to, if its making you go broke. I've done this a couple times. You'll get alittle bit of refund as well, and do away with the added rent.
Dont just jump to a new place because it unlocked.
Maximize your profits the best you can in Flint first.
I started using Fargo as a place to grow and fill order missions. With one building, even hiring someone to smuggle at one point. To fill order mission back in Flint.
