If you want more info on how his AI really works, feel free to read the rest of my reply.
From what I've observed during many tests I've run in several of my playthroughs, here's what I gathered:
- The cooldown is the same regardless which path you take.
- He never spawns *anywhere* as long as an enemy that is holding an item you need is still alive. Thus, you need to kill the enemy in question in order for his cooldown to start.
- He has specific spawn points (if you wanna know them all, here's a guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1206119084 )
- He always spawns through a spawn point that is the closest to you (this also means that if you're on Level 9 or 14, then he will always spawn on Level P).
- His scripted spawn in one of the missions does not affect his cooldown (this means he can respawn right after despawning, once, during that particular part of the mission (that happened to me once)).
- The cooldown resets once you leave the bridge on Level 9, to go to the elevator (or stairs).
Other things that the tests I've run seem to suggest so far (keep in mind those haven't been verified yet):
- The cooldown for his first spawn seems to increase from 2 minutes to at least 4 minutes. So normally, if you're quick to complete the first mission after killing the Piper, he will never have time to spawn during that mission.
- His cooldown seems to decrease to 1 minute for his first spawn when you start the 4th mission.
- Running or staying in open spaces can increase his spawn rate.
- There's a possibility that the Demon's Path increases his spawn rate, but the results I got so far don't seem to suggest that.
That's all I am able to tell you right now. I need to run more tests to verify the last points, but I've been lacking the motivation lately.
EDIT: By the way, fun fact: Boris will always act scared whenever Ink Bendy spawns, even if he is not on the same floor.
I highly doubt so. During my hours of tests and different runs, he would spawn at the same rate (and with the same cooldown) than on the other floors. The only times where he spawned earlier than usual were on his very first spawn whenever I started the 4th mission and after his scripted spawn (due to the latter not affecting his cooldown).
Both during and after completely the 4th task, I would stay on Level K to see if his cooldown or spawn rate was different. But it was the same than on the other levels, on every of my playthroughs (except one time where he spawned 4 minutes after his last despawn, which was unusual compared to the other times). Same goes for the first task.
EDIT: for clarification regarding my tests: I would hide everytime I cut the first cutout, and then after cutting a few more and so on... Though, his spawn rate being normal surprises me, since he is supposed to be more aggressive during the 4th mission. I'll run more tests on my next playthroughs when I'll have time.
