To put it another way (sorta); I feel that if you give an artist a boundry, than that will hamper their creative freedom. I will admit that some control needs to be held by the one who hired the artist, but you and I are in neither camp so it's up to theMeatly to make their game as they desire, and their game is horrific in both the literal and awestriking ways.
lol. dude can make a painting with red paint, its his painting. Doesnt mean critics cant say that maybe he should have used blue.
I will end this arguement (if we can even call it that) with saying that I respect that you think the game could have gone a totally different way than it has, but unless you either have the desire to make your own game in the style of this game but with more of a narative focus than a horror one, enough pull to make theMeatly rebuild the game where you hear Joey's voice echoing through the halls making sarcastic quips because his cartoon man doesn't get that he's a rat in a cage or you have a time machine that lets you go back and convince theMeatly that the game should totally be a narative game, than you can't change what has happened.
Enjoy the game for all the bone chilling excitement that would give even the Pyro cold feet...
Note to self; eventually make a review for this game based on Yahtzee's critic style...
Bendy focuses on spooky atmohspere,jump-scares and psychological effects which makes it a horror themed game . Although one could argue that game could do those better it is still a horror game .
The main issue that ruins the tension is the fact that you not actually getting chased and killed. If bendy was more like Nemesis walking around randomly that would be a different game .
People have different kind of backgrounds with games and some do not like high intensity . Bendy is a nice entry-level horror game that is not too hard or too scary .
To translate; I'm not a heavy 'horror fan'. I do know about pacing, but really knowing how to effectively create tension is something left to the people who know the genre like the back of their hand after it had the pinky bitten off by something blobby and vaugely smelling like cheese essenced with old salami... I seriously need to stop watching so many Zero Punctuation reviews...
