Doesn't seem worth it..
Sorry hate to be a pessimist...
But this game doesn't seem worth it.. After beating one chapter, this game feels more like a demo than a real game.Like playing the first level of a good game then being locked out and told to buy DLC. I also didn't think wandering around for an hour looking for items was very fun at all. The end tho, the jump scares, the ink rain, and getting and actually using a weapon were all fun... And kinda creepy, but for such a brief amount of actual intense gameplay it didn't seem worth all that item hunting.

I do like the concept, characters, setting etc... But for what it is now it just seems, extremely limited and odd paced. And demanding money for chapter 2, just seems odd... Specially for a so called free game.. If that was the case why not make this a real game you um, buy? As a first introduction level it'd be good in a full game... But I still did not enjoy hunting those items and I'm wondering why that part takes so long, cuz it made the whole game dull for about an hour, until the machine activated.

The first chapter feels like a demo because it's suposed to be one. The items spawn in different locations each play through. There's guides that can tell you where.

Chapter 2 is longer and you don't have to collect items. There's a different type of puzzle to solve. You also get more creepiness, story, and use of the axe.

Not sayin its a bad game tho, the last part was fun, still I dont really think its a demo since most demos dont give trophies from what I notice. Its not any better than other full priced games which is why I wouldn't spend money on it.

What he meant when he called it a demo was that originally Chapter 1 was actually created as a demo but they decided to make it the actual Chapter 1 instead. Also the way the money works is the way most episodic games work, look at Telltale games: https://telltale.com/series/, for their episodic games chapter 1 is free (and works as a demo) and the rest of the chapters have to be paid for, the only way Bendy and The Ink Machine is different from normal episodic games is that there is no option to buy all the chapters at once in advance, because the Dev said "I don't believe in selling something that doesn't exist yet.".

I guess, I still didn't particularly enjoy looking for random items but the rest of the game was done well. I like the setting, this kind of horror game would be great if it was a roller coaster ride, and didn't have these item gathering segments. Or at least have item gathering based on completetion of a goal or combat.

It did have "item gathering based on completetion of a goal", the goal was; fix The Ink Machine so you can beat the chapter, you make it sound as if collecting those items were optional.

Also combat is introduced in Chapter two since you get an axe at the end of Chapter one.

I see that, dissapointing all you could use it for was breaking wooden beams...
Then bam, pay up... No thanks, would rather buy games im interested in. If there was more to this game I might pay.

There is more to the game... when you buy the next chapters, which is how all episodic games work. The only difference between Bendy and other episodic games (Like Tales from the Borderlands or Minecraft: Story Mode or The Walking Dead) is Bendy doesn't allow you buy all the future chapters at once for one price because the dev doesn't believe in selling things that don't exist yet. Also for most episodic games the first chapter is normally a free demo to see if you like it and want to buy the rest of it.

What guarantee do I have he'd bring it out? But then again I dunno, I do like horror games. Maybe the 2nd chapter would be worth it... Stop being a sellsman lol.

Seriously tho do you have the 2nd chapeter, is it a lot better than the first? I did not like the item fetching but the rest of the game was really good if not a little brief.

The Dev not finishing it is a chance you take with all episodic games; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Episodic_video_game#Advantages, in the disadvantages section, the second point is the reason the Dev said he made it episodic in the first place.

I do own chapter two but I'm the type of person who doesn't play episodic games until I own all the episodes and have the full game, I can wait for it to finish (this applies to most early access games as well). From what I have heard/read it's a little less than double the size of the first chapter, you have to fight and can die, no item collecting but you do have to find three buttons to open a door (the first is always in the same location near the door, the other two are in random locations with one being hard to find because most gamers never look up and it likes to spawn near the ceiling, the buttons change locations if you die or replay/restart the chapter.) and then get a password to open a room with a pump switch to clear an ink flood (just like the buttons the password is random and changes if you die or replay/restart the chapter.).

As with all episodic games the first chapter is a free demo so you can play it and ask yourself, "Do I like this enough to buy the next chapter, Yes or No?".

Man you should really play it, it could take months for all the episodes to come out.
I like the looks of the game, maybe when it all comes out I might give it a try I like the style of wacky crazy horror movie cartoon, reminds me of cool world but even darker.

I can wait, I'm patient enough to not play it until all episodes are released. I'd rather wait the entire time it takes for all the episodes to come out and have the full game to play at once, then have to stop mid game and wait for the next chapter. Plus I'd probably forget what happened in the previous chapters during the wait for the next one.

Yea I see what you mean, you think when they all come out there will be a cheaper bundle pack?

Probably, yeah. So for anyone still unsure about the price, I'd say that's your best bet. Just have patience ;)

Just been looking for a good horror game on steam that's not just shoot monsters and zombies.
