Need tips for Butcher Gang fight

I'm replaying chapter 3 after the patch and I'm at the part where you have to fight the Butcher Gang on level 9, along with searchers. It seems like the Butcher Gang enemies now take more hits to defeat, and I keep dying in the fight. I try to take out Searchers as they appear at the beginning and wait for the Butcher gang to come to the bridge, then start fighting the first one or two. Searchers appear behind me and cause damage.
I completed the chapter once before the patch, and I only died once in the fight sequence. But now I can't get a grasp on all the enemies coming. Does anyone who completed this after the patch have advice on how to attack, or where to go for the majority of the fighting?

just dont move out of the area where you get items from alice you will only get to fight 1-2 searchers just wait for them to get down to you

I was able to roll the barrel that's on the left side of the bridge before I started the fight. Then used it as a barricade to hold off the first two while I hit them. The last one to reach you can twirl his head across the barrel so I had to back up onto the stairs and circle around him while hitting him, but it's easier because I didn't have to deal with all of them at the same time. It worked for me.

i tried some different suggestions and finally defeated them from the barrels by the staircase. Thanks everyone.

I assume the other enemies you didn't defeat would still be there, the lever just spawns them
