How to defeat the butcher gang

the barrels by the stairs are a good idea,but those stupid searchers always kill me,i need more suggestions to defeat them

Stay at the door. Circle around them.

I meet them at the second step, usually kill Striker first, circle around for healing, strike Piper once, circle around for healing, then finish him off. I usually then hit Fisher a few times, circle to heal, then finish him off in a few hits. If you stay by the stairs, almost no Searchers should attack

Get the secret axe. Don't fight the searchers, don't fight the butcher gang with the pipe. RUN PAST THEM ALL to get the axe in the closet.

Play a nice game of ring around the rosie on the stairs and smack them in the process; it works for me every time

Should've seen me my first playthrough. I wanted so badly to get the tommy gun on my first try. Then it got to this part. At first I thought, "well if I knock out the searchers, then I can focus on the Butcher gang." I had a few very close calls, but thanks to jumping practically constantly, I managed to dodge their attacks even when they had me cornered. Still, it took quite an effort to finally take out all the Butcher Gang members, especially the one with the wrecking ball head who for me was the hardest to kill. Wish I had recorded it, because it was hilarious how panicked I was. Still though, I managed to finally kill them and get the Tommy gun. Basically, my point is that there are 3 main ways to do the mission:
A- Pivot around them in circles while hitting them.
B- Jump around like a crazy person, then hit them between jumps.
C- Get Grant's axe. (I posted a guide about this one)

Heres a tip,you know how theres the machine that alice gives you the weapons with?You can hide behind it to regenerate health.

If you have that much trouble with the searchers then the best I can tell you from experience is to head that way as soon as possible after turning in the axe so you can use patience and caution to handle the searchers. An important thing I learned while playing chapters 2 and 3 is that you only need to be a certain distance from them to hit them, as well as learning the timing and range of their attacks. I recommend using chapter 2 for practice since there are multiple searcher attacks.
The next challenge is getting the Butcher Gang to see and follow you to the barrels while avoiding more pop-up searchers, but don't worry if you mess up again. Use a save point to start from each time and each time you fail you can figure out what did you in and be careful of it on your next try. If you're still not getting it, leave the game and come back another time. Sometimes you're probably "in the zone" while other times you're getting hit more than you expect to with your gained experience. Taking a break can be good.

I've found a very easy way now. Break Grant's room open with the axe, then hand it in. When Alice starts ranting about how they want her, run and try to avoid all the searchers. Take the secret axe and stay in Grant's room. They'll be outside the door, and you can hit them from a safe distance. They can hit sometimes, but if you get in the right spot, it's easy. The axe does lots of damage. That's how I did it the playthrough I got the tommy gun.

Thanks for the third tip. I'm gonna try and grab the axe next time I play. I kept dying then got trapped at the spawn spot with them whaling on me. Had to quit.
