No axe...
After I fell through the trapdoor, I ended up in a room with stairs, and a door blocked with furniture. No axe or path to clear.

Is this because I haven't bought Chapter 2, or is there a different reason?

Trapdoor... You mean when Psycho Ink Bendy scares you aware from the machine room and you fall through right before the exit? You get the axe back in chapter 2, so you'd have to get that then.

That's what I mean. It just means I can't complete Chapter 1.

Did you pass out on the pentagram? That's how chapter 1 ends after you end up falling in front of the exit. You step on it, see the flashbacks and black out.

I approached the exit after I saw Bendy, fell through the floor, and ended up in a room. The door was blocked, there was no axe, and there was just stairs leading down to lower levels, which had nothing in them.

I wasn't able to break through to the Pentagram, because there was no way to get there.

Finally. Thanks :)
I keep getting lost there, too. I thought the same thing about how it might have to do with not purchasing chapter 2, yet. I can't find anything and it doesn't lead me anywhere, but to a dead end. No axe, no nothing.

E to interact, press E to open doors. Don't think a door is a wall. Doors aren't suppose to be consider walls. A door is a moving structure used to block off, and allow access to, an entrance to or within an enclosed space. Always interact with doors, even though if it's lock or not. Doors are superior.
