Music Puzzle is broken on my run
The recording says piano, bass fiddle, piano. drums.
I turn on the projector, do those in order, and the door will not open.
I'd really have been pissed if this happened on my first playthrough.

I got through the music puzzle one time, made it to the end section but kept having to repeat it, gave up and tried again, but now I can't open it either. Projector is on, instruments are played in order as specified, but on the fourth instrument the projector just clicks off with no door opening. I tried quitting and replaying from chapter two without exiting to Steam. Now I'm going to try quitting all the way out and restarting the chapter.

Just to be clear, you two both know the code is random each time you play that chapter right? That randomization includes if you die or restart the chapter. A code you used the previous time you played that chapter or that you got from someone else (like a let's play on YouTube) won't work.

Also there are 5 instruments in the music room (the violin is on a chair and the bass is in the back right corner).

Yes, I do know that. And like I said in my post, the recording said the order in the run where it did not function.

Try a new order.

What are you talking about. The order that the recording said, which is what tells you what to do to progress, did not function. There's 5 instruments. there's a large number of possible combinations. The fact that the given order of instruments did not work is a problem. That's a bug.

I didn't see no one got this bug until now.

I have played through the 2nd chapter offline a ton and never got this bug

So after some testing, it seems that was caused by me trying the violin, and not the bass fiddle. Which, I'd like to point out, actually worked on my first run, when it was piano, fiddle, piano, fiddle. On that run I played the violin, not the bass, and it worked. So I have no idea what was up with that.
On a side note, I have literally never heard a Double bass called a bass fiddle. Fiddles are small. Violins can be small or large. So I assumed the violin was the big one, and the fiddle was the small one. That could have been named a tad less confusingly.

From the Double Bass Wiki page (in Terminology section):
In folk and bluegrass music, the instrument is also referred to as a "bass fiddle" or "bass violin" (or more rarely as "doghouse bass" or "bull fiddle").

You should really just follow the instrument names instead. No need to overlook or think deeply about it.

When you get the 'bass', play the 'double bass'.
When you get the 'violin', play the 'violin'. It's that simple.

You have got to be the densest person I've had the displeasure to speak with.

Like I said, no need to get crucial in details. Even average players can do it, not unless you're a senior musician.
