yea its a sequel just like the one before it.
It seems set after but People act like they know nothing about it.
It's probably because the Archimedes you meet in this game is different from the one from the 1st game. The biggest tell is he has no Velber markings, so this is probably the guy that just stuck to his work.
AFAIR, his Quantum Time-Lock pretty much removed all traces of his dimension-hopping existence so he can just wait for the next Velber ship to pop out, but that also makes him a different Archimedes from the one that we currently have.
Thre original paths eventually reach their dead end and get culled. With Nero's sadly being the first to go.
So, I guess it is a sequel.....AND in the alternate world too? Which seems kinda weird.
OK, so after replaying Extella again and re-reading the ending, I think I have a better understanding on what the heck is going on...
After Saber Venus destroys the Ark and making chibi-Altera, everyone presumed Archimedes had died... Except he survives the Ark's destruction, but because the Quantum-Timelock set in and determined the Golden Poem's ending to be an immutable truth across the multiverse, any further attempts to change the past and destroy the Moon Cell will be negated.
So, basically all he can do is wait in the ruins of the Zero Dark, quietly waiting for the day the Umbral Star returns to the Milky Way on its own again... Except since you fixed the jammers, that's gonna take an awfully long time.
From the looks of it as well, it kind of explains why nobody really recognizes him outside of Top Servants (Artoria has some choice words for him should they meet in battle, Karna knows what chibi Altera is and states she is severed from Sephyr) or Counter Guardians (Nameless remembers when everyone else doesn't).
I dunno. Top servant aside, Master of all people should have remember him if anything. :\
I'm guessing the Quantum-Timelock erased all traces of what the evil Archimedes did, including his existence. Given the fact that some of the Servants are aware of what happened before, I don't think what happened back then needs to happen all over again.
Is there any explain about this, or they don't have one from the start in the LINK route?
