I do still hold hope that the devs can break the usual tradition of "immediately drop this game as soon as it's finished and make no more content for it" they seem to have and maybe add them as DLC characters in the future a la how they made Young Altera a standalone character instead of a variant costume for Altera; sadly, however, it's more likely that we'll only ever see Alter Servants added as costumes for existing Servants instead of non-cosmetic add-on characters, and even then the chance of that happening is fairly slim given history.
- Type-Moon writer contributed to projects, not outsource while idly collects license fees. There's quality control, but admittedly, he is more suited for adventure game, new to musou.
- They try to give as much personalities to all characters, while keeping consistent with Fate universe.
- Characters have unique moves, and favours (eg. Tamamo kick has a bell chime on hitting male characters)
- Characters' lines and voice are well thought out, trying to avoid stereotyping or too similar to existing ones.
A lot more work involved in adding a character, a lot of idea and research.
But clearly there is limitation to that, its getting tougher to differentiate between characters. DLC chibi characters are near impossible to play with (blocks the view). Dev already tried their best.
If dev is really greedy, they can easily recycle other character's moves, use any battle anime cliche lines, hire cheap unknown voice talents. There are lots of F/GO characters to choose from!
It's clear that dev asked themselves "will I buy that?" before flooding market with DLCs.
Else there will be victory poses and colour swaps sold as alternate costumes X-D
I'd say the same for Saber Alter and F/SN HF, buuuuut FGO somehow has her summonable.
This isn't a normal Fate game where you summon a servant lol.
There are a servant of a lot of different servants that tie to one master.
So that makes no sense how they can't include the alter characters lol.
I actually had to look this up because I couldn't tell if you were joking or not and dear god you weren't.
Apparently Neil Armstrong is heavily implied to have been a quickly-defeated servant in Extra, and in the (kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ imo) anime adapation we see a servant in an American space suit after having his ass kicked. Even though the moon landing was just 50 years ago.
Dear god, all the rules for servants really have gone out the window aside from "some time has to have passed so we can be sure they left a mark on culture/history." At this point, we're probably going to see Robert J. O'Neill get added to F/GO in a year or two for being the guy who shot Osama Bin Laden even though that was back in 2011. That's how bad Type-Moon must be running out of ideas for things here.
Jesus.
Fate/Ext is based on Fate/Extra series. F/E is not on same universe as F/sn. It's far in future 3020AD. Creators have freedom to add any characters from F/sn, F/A, F/GO. Same for contemporary world changers as heroes.
The only issue is getting the rights to use them in game X-D
Back in 2007(I think), Type-Moon already planned move on to other projects, stop expanding Fate series.
Current heroes may look different, but core heroic quality/personality is same, overused to point of fatigue and predictable. Now with more poorly fleshed-out heroes, and recycled theme. Fundamental rules are changed on wimp (fun to watch how hero out-smart the rules, frustrating to watch rule changes on wimp during a game in progress). Everything is a mess.
If Fate/Extella focus more on gameplay and less story continuity, may just make it. We do love musou style + character growth/skill customization + dream match.
F/Grand Order Arcade do have lots of characters, with updated models and animations, that are easy to bring over to F/Extella universe. As long as its a fun and good quality musou game, I don't mind dev taking shortcuts.
Of course main problem is how all these characters are going to play differently......let's not rush into things.
