Do i need to level up (level, not bond) everyone to be useful in battles, or does leveling my main boi is enough?

Game don't have any stages where you are forced to use specific character, so don't worry.

Stick to one character first. You can buy character level, but switching too often and you may run out of QP. Rather use QP to combine and level up install skills and get good codecast.

Even though I don't recommend switching, if you did find a character who matches your play style better, feel free to switch :-) Everyone have their preferences.

You can just use one character with no issues at all.

If you feel like using a lot of different characters, I frequently used underleveled characters (sometimes 30-50 levels lower than recommended) with no issues. As long as you have a good set of install skills first, you can use whoever you like.

Also Astolfo is clearly the best girl (boy).
