Anyone else play only Division units?
In my 2nd playthrough I've been exclusively using division units of 4 man teams, no mixing and no repeats of the same person.

I've been training them up to max stats to fight in the Heartbreaker mission (no breacher teams) and only managed to play with Combat Engineers, Mercenaries, Navex, Kill Team, and Rad Force. Unfortunately since the cryopods are limited to 20 people, it means that I'll have to sell some units which I don't really want to do cause I've grown emotionally attached :(

Anyways, KillTeam performed the best on Heartbreaker. It was in fact surprisingly easy and quick. I thought the Deep Six trait would end up being really detrimental when you start to get swarmed but KillTeam kills so quickly that I was able to camp a guy on the bomb and have the 3 others run around blasting the corridors. Team was equipped with primarily the special SAP smg, smoke grenades, and decon pills. Defender had the XL shotgun.

RadForce came second place. It wasnt as easy but it was really fun. I initially though RadForce was kind of bad, but if you equip an AC unit on everyone (which is probably what the dev intended for you to do since they all conveniently have one small equipment slot), you can have 4 guys running around that turn into superman every 5 seconds. Also even though RadForce can get infected, the infection will never progress because of their radiation trait. So that means you can safely run into spore clouds and start force firing from inside, cause even strain cant inside it. Team was equipped entirely with shotguns, smoke and frag grenades. I don't recommend bringing incendiary on Heartbreaker cause you end up denying yourself room to maneuver in as well.

Mercenaries I thought would perform really well, but they kind of had a hard time. I thought Mercs were really good cause their Sandstorm trait is probably the best trait in the game. Still don't know what Loaded does lol. I was right that the smoke grenades ended up being really useful life savers, but I guess because they lack a positive trait which boosts combat performance, I ended up with a last man standing scenario where my Assault guy was just smoking and hiding in the bomb circle until it exploded. Team was equipped to my "default." Recon and Assault get SMGs, (sometimes Recon gets stumpy shotgun), Standard gets the special MAR rifle, Defender has Monster Killer rifle. Consumables were primarily decon pills and frags, and some crazy pills.

Navex and Combat Engineers both performed really bad. I don't know why it was so difficult with Navex, might have been equipment. FUBAR is pretty bad compared to Deep Six and Sandstorm, it does minimal friendly fire but it makes your guy effectively worthless for a short time, he spins in a circle shooting randomly. Barrage is a really good trait for the Navex Defender, if you give him the LMG, you can send strain flying backwards which is really funny to watch, for everyone else, didnt seem to provide a noticeable effect. One of the nice tuings about Navex is that their Assault has large equipment slots, so you can stack large grenade packs, instead of the medium. In the end I had to rely on the Breacher team to complete the mission. Gave everyone but defender, the SMG with identical stats to the MAR rifle (except for range ofc) don't remember its name. Consumables were Decon Pills, Smokes, and some frags.

Combat Engineers performed horribly, and it's almost entirely because of their Retreat trait. It makes them extremely unreliable and micro intensive when you start getting swarmed in the bomb room. That trait also forces you to have to preemptively fallback whenever you see a colonizer strain or else you'll end up triggering it. Very finnicky and tough to play around. They're fine on any other mission though, although I rarely see the benefits of their Endure trait. Team was equipped to my default, ended up using the Breacher teams to complete the mission.

Overall fun game, plan on experimenting with the other teams, any tips for other divisions? Rangers look like they'll be really strong with a base 50% bonus range dmg, but when playing with a couple of them in my first playthrough, infection looks like a really big problem because they'll end up killing each other really quickly due to Xenophobic trait. WhiteCells look like a fun challenge cause they've practically have zero health, and I've never tried exclusive melee before.

Navex just doesn't do damage for me. Combat Engineers are a decent starter force but don't scale too well because they retreat. Mercenaries earn extra money, that is the trait you didn't know about. I use them for grinding missions so I can make lots of cash, and they do alright because their negative effect is just smoke grenades that can actually be kinda helpful sometimes and unlike most others it's not harmful in any real way. And they don't run. I consider mercs a good baseline unit, I wouldn't want anything worse than them like the freebies or engineers. Killteam is overall ready to rock and good for aggression. I have not touched RadForce for some reason so might give them a try.

It's reasonable for CENGs to perform bad in CQB missions cause no matter in real life or in game, they're always some well-trained field troops which means they're poorly suitable for intense combat in close quarter. You can see that in missions with open fields like "open road", they suit perfectly fine with trusty sandbag sets and landmines. Indoor battle simply isn't what they're trained to deal with.

To my surprise, 4 kill team (Ping) recons with a fully standard set in a backpack using pistols as weapons (two with p2 compact and two with p2 olympian) passed the Heartbreaker perfectly.
Before the assault, you should briefly leave them in the decon shower, before filling their positive skill, and immediately after detonate a nuclear warhead to give yourself a head start to get to the Neutron bomb.
We order the entire squad to stand in a green circle, and put them into observation mode so that 2 people look at each side, completely covering the approaches with a firing zone.

Congratulations, we are annihilating all living things in sight!
