Weapon suggestions!
I'm sure you guys are hard at work on Strain Tactics 2, but just incase there's some time left over for new content I figured I'd get these ideas out of my head!

Chainsaw
  • X-Large slot Melee weapon. (We don't have one of those yet!)
  • Substaintial increase to melee range.
  • Very little damage per-hit, but LOTS of hits quickly - I imagine the animation as the unit simply "holding" the weapon out, and then for every moment it's in contact it does damage. This would let you "stunlock" targets. (Think chainsaw bayonet from Gears of War)
  • Slow turning/aiming speed.
  • Maybe battery powered? (A melee weapon with reloads!)
  • Perhaps you could issue it to the Defender class Mining drones and color the thing orange - though I don't know how that would effect balance. (Mining drones do not cost "R", IIRC)

Double Barrel shoutgun
  • Medium slot shotgun. (Don't have one of those either!)
  • Best in class damage-per-shot.
  • Best in class knockback.
  • Faster followup shots than a normal shotgun.
  • Smallest magazine.
  • Worst spread.
  • Kinda heavy. (Made of wood and steel!)
  • I don't know what units or printers should have these - perhaps you can only find them on mission sites, in boxes? Or maybe vendors?

Revolver
  • Small slot pistol.
  • Best in class knockback.
  • Best in class damage.
  • Range equal to LX or "Olympian".
  • Smallest magazine in class. (6 shots? Maybe 5?)
  • Slowest rate of fire in class.
  • Heavy. (for a pistol)
  • Perhaps issue them to the Riot command? Cops with revolvers is pretty retro!

OF course, if there's no more room in Strain Tactics 1, you could always consider these as suggestions for 2... :D

Maybe a sword? Large or XL melee weapon. Long range, slow recovery, and the attack is just a lunge stab forwards. Obviously lots of damage, since you're literally running someone through/impaling them with a blade. Quick turn speed, since it's still a melee weapon. Basically I want the Heat Signature longblade in the game.

I think a double barrel shotgun wouldn't really be "that" heavy. 6.5lbs or ~2.9kg. With a loaded compact assault rifle (M4) being 7lb or ~3.3Kg. Spread would be comparable to other shotguns unless you sawed off the barrel maybe.

True, though I was looking for ways to make it balanced.

Correct: the sawed off barrel is the reason it would be a medium slot item, instead of large!

I got it for 50% off so my take on it's value might be skewed - but yeah, a very good time!

The tutorial's rough on the edges (at least it was the last time I played) and there's a lot of stuff you have to figure out yourself, but it's very entertaining!

Weapon time (Cause why not!)

Good to see people so enthusiastic about chainsaw and double barrel fun! I mention some of this couple of months back (Already?!). And I'm glad that I'm not alone at this!

But personally I think "Iconic" double barrel shotgun should be shoved-off S size, lightweight (cause it is) 1 double-shot with absolute minimum range and maximum spread, like a melee weapon in range class (for long range p̶e̶r̶c̶s̶ traits in close range (melee) interpretation). A "Citizen" in post apocalyptic world.

And for M size... well, there a clip full-auto shotty is missing. which I (and not only) like to see one day. Average full-auto firepower with fast swapping mag is excellent choice for variation of the shotty class.
