fan noise
So I am sick of the fan noise. I hate it in my real computers, and so I decided to remove the CPU fan from my work PC (in game of course). The CPU is a Pentium G4400 and without any cooler runs fine at 55C. Happy days yes? nope.

No fan in the case, no fan on the CPU and I still got the bloody fan noise.

WHY?

Ok might be the PSU, so I bought the 250W, surely it is fan less right? No?

GPU? Where are the low powered fan less options? Every one has a fan, they are readily available in real life.

Am I always going to have to listen to that god awful noise when working my low powered 58W pc? It should be silent. Or at least I should be able to buy passive cooled parts.

I am level 11

Stupid question, so sorry for it...
But please do understandf I'm like you. I hate those fans sound, I hate the sounds of ON/OFF of the OS... so... why play with sounds ? simply mute the game's master volume (or the FX volume, etc)

So I play this game without any volume... none is truely needed to play the game the best way possible (unlike some other games where sound is much needed for some key indications)

I don't hear the fan sounds. Maybe because I'm playing with music (local MP3s).

Not Stupid at all. it is a good question and I might try it out.

It is a shame as I am sure the sound engineer will be disappointed but offering parts that would be passively cooled and then recognising that when the computer is powered would fix it too.
I guess that sound is part of letting the less observant know the computer is powered, but you re-cable whilst it is on and it just powers off. No harm.

I just want my work computer to be silent, I don’t mind the ones I am building. I bought a be Quiet case and still noisy.

The bigger fans can spin at lower speeds, you need to be at a certain level to unlock the passive fans if you are playing career mode.

I managed to do a full fanless build and its 100% quiet. You need a couple specific things to make it work. Pretty much you have to eliminate every fan from the whole build.

1. CPU Fan
You can use any passive CPU cooler (SilverStone HE02, ARTIC Alpine 12 Passive)
That means you can use any CPU that supports those coolers (that only rules out Threadripper CPUs)

2.GPU Fan
The only actual fanless GPUs are the ones meant to be watercooled. As counter intuitive as it may sound, you can actually use the GTX 1070, 1070 ti and 1080 GPUs without setting up a watercooling loop and they wont thermal shut down when stressed, even under an SLI configuration.

3.PSU Fan
The only fanless PSU the game has to offer is the SilverStone Nightjar 520W one.

4.Case Fans
Pretty simple here. Just remove all of them

Building such a PC would be a fun story mission for someone working on a music studio or something.
Or you could use such a PC as your main PC if you for some reason play with sound on but dislike the constant fan noise.

Ty for the information. I am level 12 now, so I guess water cooling come in at level 13? And what level does the SilverStone Nightjar 520W become available?

It seems more like a bug, if you switch it off and then turn it on, all other SFXs keep the same volume level, however the work computer SFX goes real low. If you tweak the SFX volume at the options then the loud fan noise starts sounding a like a freaking Jumbo Jet LOL. Cheers :)

mchasur:
WOW. You have just made me transform my Office PC, into a completely quiet one. Kudos.

Thanks so much :evillaugh:

The Watercooled GPU is an odd pick to build like this haha
I am surprised there arent any passively cooled cards. I am pretty sure the RX560 itself is passively cooled IRL.
