Not letting me install PCI cover
I have just restarted the career mode (due to the update) and after replacing a graphics card I had to reinstall the PCI cover when I selected it in the menu a popup appeared saying "can't fit PCI cover". I tried replacing the old graphics card then installing it, but still received the same message

Just found out how it works, so the PCI cover in your inventory isn't what you need to put on, but the PCI Lock that doesn't show up in your inventory, simply have Remove selected and mouse over the part where that Lock should be and it should show install PCI Lock, no idea why it works this way, but it works, and once you do that, it doesn't say incomplete case. Simply leaving this here if someone else encounters it before it's fixed if it's even a bug.

Hum... may I ask ?

The only time I get that is when I try to install them... and there is no more room left to install them. So they are in this case not needed, and the PC case is not labelled as [ Incomplete ]

I also remember older builds when you had to place them in a specific order, but that is no more in the latest game's version...

So either you play the beta V1 that is there for older saves to be still played and theer is maybe a specific order, or you may want to share pics of your issue.

I never faced it personally.

EDIT : btw, you ALWAYS get the un-used ones in your parts list, because it's the simpliest way for the devs to attach them to a case.
For instance I buy an old PC on PCBay, and I totally vampirize the parts, and want to keep the case for an other build, and the PC at PCBay had one of those GPU's that used only 1 single slot of those PCI covers.... once I unmounted the parts, how am I suppose to get all the PCI covers if the amount of them was not tied to the case ?
How would I be able to fully place them all back if such intention was mine ?

That's a developpement choice, and so, nope you DON'T have to put them all back on the case once a PC is mounted, you'll ALWAYS get 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 of them on your inventory no matter what. The spare ones allowing you to install the GPU.

when trying to install the cover: https://gyazo.com/663e06d2b0aa5da2eff568a8c34cc6d6
I added the side panel: https://gyazo.com/f23e538cbf35d05a6076376b3eac59e6

The only thing left in pc parts in the install menu is the PCI cover.

it's a broken graphics card repair. if I uninstall the PCI cover then try and reinstall it w/o touching the graphics card the same issue happens.

your pics would be much more conclusive if it were pics from your assembling menu and with the case parts selected.

I have never faced a case where it said incomplete case because of PCI covers (not saying it can't be a bug) but would be much more helpful to know the full config and truely see the parts in your inventory.

Now honnestly, how many tines did I forget to put back the PCI lock, the filters, and so on...
Way more time than I'm feeling comfortable admitting it.

So if it's indeed a bug, devs can know what case to look at, with what sort of parts installed.

Why is this still not fixed?

I think they're planning on releasing a large patch to fix all of the problems that have been discovered since the career refresh all at once, probably a week or so before the game leaves early access. This is just my theory, but it makes sense if you think about it.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Limo, I restarted the campaign 3 times, thinking this was a bug. I was about to give up on the game. You saved it for me. Thanks.

The PCI lock is hinged in this case. You can’t remove it but you can still open and close it, hence the incomplete assembly.

And now I know where those extra PCI covers are coming, was driving me crazy.
