Steam Deck
The game isn't verifyed on steam deck. 3dmark shows black screen because it defaults to low settings. Min ultra graphics fixes that problem

That's because Steam Deck runs Linux and this game is a Windows game by design. It was never designed to be compatible with Linux so of course it's never going to run correctly on the Steam Deck. The developers aren't going to fix this. It's not their problem. You're trying to run the game in an environment it wasn't designed to run in. That's a you problem.

PC Building Simulator is a verifyed game and that implies that ALL functions should work as well as it gets. Im just saying that it seems like a "Playable" game, not "Verifyed" as it suggests.

You just said in your first post it's not a verified game. And now you're saying it is? Steam's own verified games list for the steam deck is very difficult to navigate and I can't find PCBS on there even though I logged into it.

EDIT: I found this 3rd party list that claims it's a verified game here: https://gamertweak.com/steam-deck-verified-games/ But I can't find it on any official Steam site anywhere.

Maybe you're right. Maybe even though it's listed as "Verified" it's still not going to work correctly?

Valve says that verifyed games should work flawlessly, like they were built for the Deck but seems like there was an error with testing this game

I think I saw in a video where Linus was reviewing the Steam Deck that it's getting updates almost daily. Perhaps check if there's any updates for your Steam Deck and maybe that would solve it? Otherwise I'm out of ideas.

Oh, it took me just one quick google search to know what's the problem. You see, the game defaults to very low settings but in order for 3dmark to work you need to use at least ultra settings. Steam Deck handles ultra settings just fine but a verifyed game should work right out of the box without changing any settings. I made that post so maybe someone would notice it that the game is not tested correctly for the steam deck. For me personally, I don't care if i have to change some settings but if Valve wants the Steam Deck to be a true console experience with verifyed games then such things cannot happen.

Well at least you found a solution and maybe your thread here will help others that try this game on the steam deck. So thanks for sharing the "solution".

Unfortuntely, Valve is not advertising Verified without being misleading. It has been shown that Verifiied does not guarantee the game will work correctly from beginning to the end, it just means the game works great for the little bit of time that Valve played the game. For example, Horizon Zero Dawn is a deck verified game, but after you leave the first area, first area works great, then things start breaking down like performance becomes more and more stutter the further you get into the game and crashes start happening as well.
Yeah steam deck is such a new device and they're rushing to get as much games verifyed as possible. I'm just hoping to help them know what games aren't actually verifyed. I don't know where the hell else i could have posted it so that anyone who could do something about it sees this

Maybe in the steam deck forums instead of the PCBS forums? I went to google and searched for: Valve steam deck forums, the first result is this: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1675200/discussions/ There's even a pinned thread there where you and Kena, Spirit Guide can report the two games with errors in them.

Thank you for this post, this helped me with playing on my Steamdeck.

Thank you for posting this. I had the same problem. I had no idea it defaults to low settings. I bumped it to the highest settings and it works fine now. Does 3dMark fail on low settings on all systems? Or just Steam Deck?

I now have a question from Valve saying that this is listed as a verified Steam Deck game, and they are wondering if my opinion matches. I'm really tempted to say "no". A game that is Steam Deck verified should work out of the box without having to look up how to tweak it to work.

No. At least not "instead". The devs really need to be aware of this if they want to keep their Steam Deck verified checkmark. That's a big sellilng point for anyone with a Steam Deck. Now that I have my Steam Deck, I'm more likely to buy games that are verified. I think the best thing might be to post in both forums in a situation like this. Valve wants to have more Deck verified games, and I'm sure the devs would be happy to have/keep that verified checkmark.

I googled it and it seems like the 3dmark thing happens with all the operating systems and specifications, not just the deck. And i totally agree that "verifyed" should mean absolutely 0 problems. Valve themselves said that verifyed games should be console experiences. I also buy more verifyed games for my deck but some just don't work and i think it's Valve's fault that they don't test them thoroughly. Also forza horizon 5 was supposed to be playable but this game stutters like hell and I don't know but this is not playable (yes I've tweaked it every single way possible). I'm really hoping that steam deck will be a success, bringing all your games everywhere you go, being able to play in whatever way you want. But if it's not a seamless experience like promised then people aren't going to buy this thing :/
