I think it might be part of the story line, however. Because then MSI swoops in and becomes the new sponsor the next week, and they love it when you put in the MSI motherboards and GPUs in the team's PCs.
sorry reviving this, but how do you see what your sponsor wants? I just started to play the DLC but I haven't figured it out
They tell you. Sponsor (or Team Manager, sometimes?) will send you an e-mail saying "it would be great if" you could put the sponsor's product (GPU, memory sticks, motherboard, liquid cooler, etc.) into the team's PCs in time for the match on Saturday. Usually two requests per week, one very early in the week, and the other near the end. I think one may have come on Saturday.
But essentially, the Sponsor's ask you to install kit into the players Rigs, but then they don't send you the components. I am assuming you are just supposed to use your budget it and buy it from the shop, but I just wanted to confirm that this is what you are supposed to do? As someone who has worked with Sponsorship requests IRL for companies (Not eSports, but still in PC Hardware) if the Sponsor makes a request that a Rig uses certain hardware for a Production, then they make sure they send that Hardware to you with plenty of time for it to arrive and install it. In VERY RARE situations when there is a last minute change, and the best option is to run to your local Micro Center and pick it up, then you might have to do that, but its always reimbursed.
So I just find this a bit weird that you are supposed to use your own budget to fulfill Sponsor component requests, and just wondering if maybe I missed a reimbursement option, or if anyone else found this odd as well.
I will go away now, lol...
You are correct. You have to buy the sponsor's products yourself, out of your own budget.
And yes, that's a crappy sponsorship.
Appreciate your response. Yeah, I was sad to continue playing and figure out thats exactly what was expected of me. Weird ass sponsor, but whatever, lol.
Appreciate your response all the same!
