What is the Difference Between PC Building Simulator 1 & 2?
I am considering purchasing PC Simulator on Steam and am aware that the second one is an Epic Games exclusive. I am also aware that the likelihood of the second one coming to Steam in the future is very low, but feel free to prove me wrong.

Not low. It is impossible. The second game will never be on steam. That is the main difference in the two games.

PCBS1 is pretty challenging and fun, PCBS2 is ok, but they added the ability to have a store where you sell second hand machines and you make so much money so fast that its really boring. After like 30 minutes of playing you'll have so much money you never have to think, just buy everything.

well if there's a 2nd one there's a possibility that its made by another company so you best get the original

A different company made PC Building Simulator 2 that came out October 2022, which is why it will only be on Epic Games and never on Steam. Its very similar to 1 but with added elements (case customization, water cooling RAM, selling PCs from a store front.)

I have been running into a lot of bugs lately so I've given up on it.

LOL

This right here folks it the downside of being an EGS exclusive.

If it's not on Steam then the majority of PC gamers will never see it.
I myself didn't know there even was a PCBS 2 until this thread.

The first game has a link to their official discord on the main menu that we can click on. If you went there it told us about it a long time ago. Also the official PCBS Subreddit (which was active before the second game released) has had pinned messages about it too: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcbuildingsimulator/

It wasn't hidden because it's on Epic Games. You're just not looking.

The difference is that the second game is a cash grab by the game developers. It's exclusive to Epic Games Store (Epic will have paid a huge amount of money to make it so) and may never appear on Steam, where the first game has been abandoned.

What's upsetting to me is that PCGS is a game that will never be "finished" because it lives or dies on getting regular updates for new computer parts. Hence, the idea of a second game is abhorrent to me - it pretty well kills off the first game from being playable in the long term (it'll always be "last gen" [or older] parts).

I was also annoyed that Linus Tech Tips gave PCBS 2 a glowing review despite the game being a cash grab Epic exclusive and the first game's owners being completely shafted. If they needed moire money, why not put all new features/parts into paid DLCs for the first game (which would also keep the game on Stteam)? This was a complete sell-out in my books.

I think perhaps you are misinformed about the situation. I will attempt to share information with you: PCBS 2 is on Epic Games because Epic Games bought the parent company that owned the studio that made PCBS 1. Epic Games now owns PCBS 1, PCBS 2, and all intellectual property relating to everything with PC Building Simulator. PCBS 2 is on the Epic Games store because it is a "First Party" Epic Games game. They created it. They published it. They own it. It's their game. That's why it's on their store. Most likely it will be on Epic Games forever and will never be on steam.

That is not true at all. This game (PCBS 1) is perfectly fine and has multiple hundreds of hours of playable content right now even if it is never updated again. It even has infinite jobs after reaching the maximum level in career mode ensuring we can continue getting jobs and playing this game for as long as we wish. Just because it isn't updated doesn't mean that this game is dead or that anyone shouldn't play it. It's still a fun game and certainly worth buying and playing even if it is never udpated.

See my comment above: It is not a cash grab. It's a new game owned and created by Epic Games. Also the first game's owners did not get shafted. The parent company that owned their studio sold out to Epic Games. Most (A lot of them) of the previous developers that worked on PCBS 1 now work on the development team at Epic Games too. In fact they moved from a small studio to a large AAA game company. I'm just guessing here with this next part: they probably have a better working environment and living situation now.
