Steam vs EGS

I really can't be bothered to bloat out my PC with an extra program for 1 game just so (The Irregular Corporation) can make a few extra quid. I like all my toys in one place & hate mess.

I wanted to make this thread to see how many people think the same way as i do.

Just write "Steam" if you're NOT going to download and buy PCBS2 from Epic games store.
or
Write "EGS" if you're not really bothered about it and you are, or already have the EGS installed.

Personally i'm going to miss Ω OS

I'm using a common amount of ram for a gamer 16gb and im running a i7 9700k. I made the test fair both were idling, steam stayed in ram and cpu usage and egs spiked high every 4 minutes and then went back down. I not lying or trying to de-vaule egs in anyway, i'm simply replying to what you said on my own test. Given i have the standard when it comes to gamers specs i trust mine over most.

Your specs are a bit above most gamers (though 16 GB of RAM is inadequate for high-end gaming, though for 1080p and moderate texture settings it's still OK, ish), but an i7-9700K is an 8-core processor. Even though it has no hyperthreading support, 15% of an 8-core processor is impossible for a client that's idling. I'd imagine EGS using 15% of your processor while it's patching a game, but otherwise? Not really.

Your telling me i was a bit shocked myself. Maybe its because it was a fresh install i don't know but the network going through it was 0 mbps

iv'e tested it multiple times since and still the same results lowest iv'e seen it on is 11% in cpu. Maybe i'll try again tomorrow after a reset

That isn't idle you are showing, you are showing active.
When it's idle, it is in background processes only.

Idle means running with no activity given by the user, not in the windows tray sitting in hibernation.

I have EGS running right now and it's using 50 megs of RAM. Zero CPU, network, or GPU resources. It literally just chills in the background if you're not using it. Steam is using over 700 MB and also doing nothing. If bloat is your concern, you have little to worry about.

Incorrect EGS takes 14.5% - 0% CPU and takes around 360mb - 430mb Ram.

Steam however takes 0.6% - 0% CPU and takes around 154mb ram.

Both on idle but onscreen

No, that isn't what idle is. It doesn't matter if the user is doing something or not, it's still an active window.

besides, why would you keep the window active if you are not using it? There is no reason for that.

EGS is not using alot cpu i have 400 games in EGS and 6000 on steam
0.1% cpu usage whit EGS in store page steam 0.3% cpu usage 10900k cpu here epic is using 400mb steam 2000mb the bigger the libery the more ram it usses i buy games where it is on the platform steam egs uplay gog galaxy dont matter if can play on pc

I've always bought games on Steam, then GOG for DRM-free copies... but now, the Steam Deck has changed things for me, there is 100% no way I will buy anything on Epic because I'm not into fiddling with my Deck, love the simplicity of turning it on and everything just works, so... I will never buy/play PCBS2... their loss, not mine

If a game I want to play, is exclusive to a platform, that I own or can install freely, then I will use it to play the game. Including Epic Games Launcher. Even if I prefer Steam.
