I'm still going to insist if it's on a separate channel it doesn't matter in the least tho. Last mobo I had even said it didn't and it would prioritize the faster channel. Of course if you want the duel/triple/quad channel benefits, that set of ram must match. On a side note, I'm kinda surprised the game doesn't elaborate on that more. I can't say if is is or is not modeled into the scores as I've not tested for it, but there seems to be no explanation of the benefits.
As far as putting ram in any slot.. that's absolutely incorrect. First, the manufacturer says you can. Secondly, I know from personal xp that you CAN put them wherever. I've tested this myself. (While testing to find a bad ram chip tested all eight slots with about every order imaginable of 1, 2, 3 or 4 sticks.)
