Anti-Aliasing
Has anyone tried to force AA into this game via nvidia inspector? This game desperately needs it, jaggies everywhere. I've tried a few settings in nvidia inspector and not getting anything working, yet.

Nothing is working when it comes to graphical options be in from Nvidia. All we can do is hope the Devs put in some options later down the road.

Never seen even one " jaggies" anywhere in this game yet.

Look at the top edge of the monitor for your work stations at any angle. Look at the top edge of computer cases at an angle. Look at the shelf in the work room at an angle. At 1080p it's glaringly obvious.

Pixelated jagged edges everywhere. It's terrible and looks awful in general. This game desperately needs an in-game anti-aliasing option. I'll continue trying on and off to try and find a working way to force it.

If you don't understand what Anti-Aliasing is, see this:

Apparently in searching there's supposed to be an in-game AA option?? I go to graphics settings and all I see is "Quality" and with that "Very Low, Low, Medium, Ultra, Fantastic"
Update: Okay I was not understanding how the game is working. My forced SuperSample AA -IS- applying, but it's only applied when I click on a computer tower and go in to "Building mode" When I leave a computer tower and walk around the room freely, it doesn't apply AA.

For those of you that know how, the compatibility flag that works for AA for computer-building view for PCBS is: 0x004000C4

Also you need "Antialiasing fix" set to "On".

Put this under Antialiasing compatibility in the the top and then under Antialiasing use "Enhance the application setting". All modes work from 2xMSAA up to 32xS for 32xSuperSample AA. It's just only when you're viewing a computer to build/edit it.

DISCLAIMER: AS OF 1-7-2019, THIS FLAG FOR ANTI-ALIASING NO LONGER WORKS WITH PCBS AND THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WAY TO GET FORCED ANTI-ALIASING TO WORK IN THIS GAME, AT THIS TIME. THIS EDIT IS PUT HERE FOR ANYONE THAT HAPPENS TO FIND THIS OLD THREAD.

What can you expect from a cheap early access game?

Expect them to actually care about their players. I've played indie games in EA for $4 before that had full AA options in-game. I found a fix anyway for half of the game.

Thanks for the tip on (partially) getting AA working

A built-in up and downsampling feature would be good, and an in-game frame limiter.

Your GPU driver can do this actually.
(I don't speak about Intel integrated)

Yes.. except nvidia has not released a driver profile for this game yet. So we have to manually create one with 3rd party software to get access to parts of the profiles that nvidia hides from users via the default driver control panel. I gave partial instructions on how to do it. I could create a whole walkthrough but.. meh.

Which AA settings were the best in your opinion? I tried 4x4 SSAA along with 4xSSTRAA and 32S (which is a 2x2 SSAA with 8x MSAA) along with 2xSSTRAA. Not much of a difference comparing the two, but better than without it. Though still e.g. RAM slots are aliasing and some stuff is moiring. But funny when you change in the PC building view the angle and look at the monitor and the keyboard and see that they now look really unaliased and cool. I don't understand why this does not work for the normal view...

At least on my system this also did not impact fps, I was still at steady 120 (the game seems to cap it or the not really working vsync...) with "fantastic" preset in the options. Must see how this behaves when having several PCs running, as then I get sometimes massive framedrops, which seem somehow to depend on the cases used or the fans.

I'm using 8x MSAA and it looks fine to me, not going to bother with supersampling (probably for the best since I'm using a 1440p display)
KG79 Apr 28, 2018 @ 2:03pm
Why not? It's always worth a try if the gpu can handle it. I also use 1440p and the aliasing is terrible in this game.
HarbingerDawn Apr 28, 2018 @ 2:07pm
2x2 supersampling would mean rendering at 5120x2880, and to make it look best I'd need to apply some MSAA on top of that. My 980 Ti would not be happy with me if I tried to do that. As I said, 8x MSAA looks fine to me, so I have no reason to dump more heat into my room and increase my electric bill (and possibly lower my framerate) by supersampling.
