So you are saying that Epic is not allowed to keep their own sequel of an IP they own, that they are funding the development for, exclusive to their own store? Let me guess, Valve is the ONLY developer allowed to keep their own games exclusive to their own store?
You say that they are allowed to buy 3rd party developers, make their franchise exclusive to a launcher that is worse than most people are using? They can do whatever they want with their OWN games. But buying 3rd party developers and making their franchise EGS exlusive to force people into EGS is sh*tty practice and shouldn't be admired. Even if their launcher is better this doesn't makes this practice good. Microsoft bought Minecraft and they didn't make the franchise xbox and windows exclusive. When will you people understand this?
Why not? Valve bought Campo Santo, third party developer, and Campo Santo made Half Life Alxy, which is a sequel to an IP that Valve owns. Can you buy Half Life Alyx anywhere that isn't Steam? Nope.
So yeah, this is no different.
Once again, EGS haters are showing that none of their complaining is about being against third party exclusives only and first party exclusives are acceptable. Once again they are showing that only Valve is allowed to have first party exclusives but everyone else is not allowed to and it is considered anti-consumer. Really, none of this has to do with games being exclusive to a single store, you people are perfectly fine with that as long as it is Steam.
And PC Building Simulator is Epic's own game. Just like PC Building Simulator 2 is Epic's own game for multiple reasons which is they are the publisher, they funded the development of the game, and they own the IP. But none of that matters to you, only Valve is allowed to do that kind of stuff, and nobody else is allowed to.
Only for context: Valve acquired Campo Santo in 2018 (Firewatch devs) and Impulsonic in 2017 (3D audio technology company)
The original has enough going for it anyways, I can't see this being a must-have sequel even if it was on Steam.
Yeah we've been part of Epic for over a year now.
On twitter they stated no plans for a Steam release. This game is a first party game for Epic Games. Epic owns the developers of this game, Irregular Corporation who had been integrated into Epic Games Publishing. So Epic owns the IP, owns the developers, is funding and publishing the game. Its a first party game being exclusive to a first party store, exactly like how Valve's games are exclusive to Steam.
This isn't a exclusive contract situation, this is literally a first party game being exclusive it its first party store.
There's no plans for a Steam release as of writing, it's a first party title after all.
Definitely hope I'll still see you around though. I think the game will be a fun and worthy sequel, now it's on us to show players as much.
Well, considering the developer just answered you stating it is a first party title, I assume I don't need to give you the twitter links?
Thank you for at least confirming this officially.
