1.You install every part you want for the build withoute the back panel.
2.You install OS and all your programs.
3. You remove the motherboard and the M/B I/O.
4.You install the back panel and the fans you want.
5.You install the M/B I/O.
6. Finally, you must install again the same parts you had before.
If you do everything right, the storage drive will have the OS installed.
It is all just a BIG pain in the butt...
But it works. It's a same because is the best looking tower in the game...
So In order to remove the MB. I must remove the memory and CPU before removing the MB.
So how did you remove the MB and reinstall it without having to again install the OS and other programs with an M.2 boot drive?
I just tried this. I installed a HDD and confirmed the OS install and boot drive as the HDD.
Did as you suggested. Assumed the OS would stay installed in the HDD.
But it did not.
HTF did you do this!?
This is an obvious oversight in regards to the USB OS installation.
If I can connect all my USB components after that back panel has been installed, then I should be able to connect the USB OS device after that back panel has been installed.
I mean this has been a problem for, at least of this posting, ten months.
I just installed OS and antivirus on an m.2, then took it to a random other system and plugged it in. Booted right up. Then I swapped back to the other SSD in the BIOS, and the AV was gone and other programs were there instead.
In a "Inwin 925" case, I can install a "Mortoni H170 Mtech" motherboard, then unplug all wires, then remove the "Back Panel", then install a USB stick, then install the OS. All without removing the "Grid" or the motherboard.
Is your problem "Can't connect USB stick while Back Panel is on" or "Can't connect USB stick while Grid is on"? Also, maybe your problem involves a specific motherboard - What exact parts are you using? Details matter.
Try putting fans on that back panel after all that.
The presence of the I/O panel prevents installing fans.
Creating the issue described.
If you don't care to put fans on the back panel it's not an issue.
Because I'm in free build. The removed parts go right back to the free store inventory.
I will try again to install this on an SSD or HDD without any M.2 on board.
Because those don't need to be removed from the case with the issue described.
Maybe I overlooked something as I did have an M.2 on the board.
Even though I confirmed that the HDD drive was the default boot device.
Alright, I did not install the OS to the HDD as I previously thought.
I was able to get everything put together.
The only drawback is not being able to install the OS to the much preferred and more speedy M.2 drive.
I had to settle for one of the fastest SSD drives.
It doesn't matter what parts you are using at all with this problem.
No part combination or lack thereof will make this problem go away.
It's a non issue.
The problem is, as I have found, that you cannot install the OS to an M.2 drive while also wanting to install fans on the back panel.
Even if you don't care to install fans on the back panel, you still must put everything together with the back panel off in order to install the OS.
Install the OS to a SSD or HDD and then remove all that prevents the grid panel from being removed if you change your mind about having fans on the back panel.
The motherboard.
And in order to remove the MB you must remove all that you have added to it.
Essentially putting those items back into the Free Build store inventory.
An OS install to an M.2 drive is futile.
BUT.....
This is for Free Build and not Career. Because what you purchase in Career stays in your inventory. Which probably means you could install this to an M.2 drive on this case with the above steps followed. It's still a PITA and looks like an oversight as I already stated.
The only way you may fully understand what is being said here is trying to build this case yourself in Free Build. Try installing the OS to and M.2 drive while having fans installed on the back panel.
If you can do this then I will give you a cookie and my undying devotion.
EDITS
Sorry for all the edits.
But, In my defense here, I've been doing 16oz curls for a bit.
Meh, not really a necro when the issue still exists.
But getting the OS installed is a slight issue no matter the build considering the back panel.
With the back panel in place, you can plug every USB device in with the exception of the OS USB.
One has to wonder.
