Replaced broken ram stick with a working one, pc boots yet it says I haven't diagnosed and fixed the problem.
Title says it all, I've been stuck on this job for a while now, I've bought the same stick to replace it, diagnose and fix still red.

I replaced it with better ram, diagnose and fix still red.

at this point I'm certain something obscure that doesn't hinder the machines ability to boot is broken besides the ram, but I can't find it.

So have you tried taking apart the entire PC to look for the actual problems? Just becuz the guy in the email suspects that it may be a RAM issue doesn't mean it's just that. You're the repair guy, not him.

Sometimes it stays red because you need to also run a virus scan, I'd try that.

If it's still red after that, try checking every component one by one to figure out if something else is broken.

Viruses. Broken case fans. Viruses on a second hard drive/ssd/m.2 drive. System can't pass 3dmark without crashing. System can't pass OCCT without crashing. Dust on some obscure part of the case you missed. System arrived to you with no thermal paste under the heatsink, etc. These are all possible things that you need to check on each and every diagnose and fix job. It doesn't matter if none of these are in the email or that the customer didn't ask for you to fix these things. If the diagnose and fix is red then there's still something wrong with the computer and it's up to you to figure out what it is. Re-read the customer email and see if it gives you any clues / hidden suggestions (read between the lines). If you're really stumped and can't figure it out then post a copy of your save file online and share it here and someone will help you figure it out.
