Why is a 1050 TI considered "inferior" to a 960 2gb?
I was on a request that told me to replace the 960 2gb. Everything it has the 1050ti does better except memory clock being 0001 worse than it and not having SLI. The pc only had 1 GPU so is SLI really that big of a deal to have it ocnsidered inferior? Or was it specifically from the memory clock being 1 point lower? The core clock was 1400 compared to the 960s 1200. I feel like that should get changed or have an explanation in game you know?

Because in real life a 1050 Ti -IS- inferior to a GTX 960. Just because something is newer, and has a faster clock speed does -NOT- mean it's actually any faster than older cards. That's not how technology works. A bottom-end low-speed gpu even if it was made brand new can still be slower than something many years old.

The 1050 and 1050 Ti are very slow low-end cards. See this: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-680-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti/3148vs3649

Even an old GTX-680 that was sold new in 2012 is faster than a 1050 Ti.

Interesting, I assumed the speeds being slightly higher meant it was better. Learn something new every day I guess lol.

There's a lot more to these things than just clock speeds. You've got to look at memory bus, number of cores, texture fill rate, pixel fill rate, etc.

Thats a good point, however those aren't in the game so I was going off what was presented directly in front of me without having to go to a real life website to compare the 2 cards lol

I wish i knew this before i bought my GTX 1050 Ti several years ago. It worked ok for what i play now, but it is so underpowered when it comes to Steam VR.
