How to rotate fans?

You can't. There is no need to rotate fans, they go in the correct way already, intake front, exhaust back and top like all computers are.

thanks:)

Unfortunately, every fan that I add to the rear of a case ends up being auto-rotated as another intake, not exhaust. Same goes for top fan mounts. While purely aesthetic right now, it would be nice to have some control over which fans are intake vs exhaust.

Example: try removing the pre-installed rear Mortoni fan from a case and put it right back in; it's backwards. Try adding a different fan to the same spot; also pointing backwards.

Build: 0.7.10.1

Thank you! I thought I was losing my freaking mind when this started happening. I agree, we need some type of fan direction control.

That, or as a quick fix, set each group of fans (front, top, rear, bottom, side) as either intake or exhaust based on common conventions as seen on most builds. It could literally just be a bug that the rear fans rotate the wrong way.

"Like all computers are"... top fans can be intakes, which for me is the case.

The coldest air will be from the bottom of the case and the hottest air in the top of a case because hot air rises and cold air falls/sinks to the bottom. So naturally you want the top of the computer (where heat naturally collects) to be the hot air exhaust from the case. It's basic physics. Anyone using the top of their case for intake is just doing it wrong.

I recommend you take a look at the many GamersNexus case reviews where they note that adding top fans as exhaust can actually harm CPU thermals because the air from the front intake is pulled through the top fan before reaching the CPU heatsink and fan. Thus, the warmer air surrounding the CPU, GPU backplate, GPU side exhaust (for non-reference GPU coolers) and chipset are passing through the CPU fin-stack, resulting in higher CPU temps.

There's no point in discussing with people like you, this isn't a discussion at all. You know everything about computers and you're always right. So go tell the programmer how to fix the fans correctly because apparently they're wrong. Everyone is wrong to you.

I don't know how come I haven't noticed it before but all the fans I add in are backwards. Front fans exaust while rear fan intakes... Not a big deal like some have said its just asthetics for now but it still kinda urks me :E (also would be nice to have case thermal effects that can effect the preformance of the pc based on how many fans, orientation, and effectiveness to keeping your case from becoming a dutch oven)

Ironically, this is exactly how you're behaving. I'm not saying that I'm right, I'm saying that you shouldn't act like you're the one who's always right.

The reality of common conventions for case fan configurations is not as simple as the "basic physics" you referred to. I previously thought the same as you: top exhaust and bottom intake makes the most sense because hot air rises, but I was proven wrong by those who actually tested such configurations and presented evidence. It is literally on a case by case basis, that is: PC case to PC case because each case layout and airflow restrictions can have a dramatic effect on the usefulness of top and bottom fans in conjcuntion with, or without all of the front and/or rear fans.

I too have noticed that any front fans I add to some cases are rotated and shown as exhaust. Honestly, I feel like it's a bug more than anything.

It is apparent with the pre-installed case fans that their base intent was to default front fans as intake and rear fans as exhaust. Other fans are not clear, but to have a re-installed rear fan go in as intake and front fans to take on the exhaust role (again, purely aesthetic for now) is not about telling a programmer they're wrong; it's about letting them know that there's inconsistency with the implementation.

As a programmer, I understand that fixing a potential bug or adding a feature is not as easy as many think, or as difficult as others may have someone believe. Depending on how it's coded, it could simply be a variable that isn't set to the intended default value. It could be specific to the case, which might have a list of variables indicating the direction the fan is mounted, which can conflict with adding or removing fans and setting improper values for those positions on the case. If these variable end up adversely affecting other aspects of the case/game, then a quick fix may not be so simple, but if it's modular code allows for quick edits, then fixing it could be easy enough.

From the Patch Notes (Build 0.8.0.1):

• Fixed the issue where case fans rotated when removed.
• Fixed the issue where case fans installed facing the wrong way.

Thanks again to WiZZyWiGG and the rest of the team for making this happen!

With the lastest update you can rotate CPU coolers
