Pass Recommended spec - but they want minimum spec, bug?
Customer wanted to run minecraft minimum spec on a $800 budget. Didn't care about new/old.

I used second hand GPU/CPU that pass recommended, but I can't complete because the game wants a lower GPU to pass minimum.

I see this as a bug - as buying the minimum spec GPU would cost more anyway. Ideas?

Check VRAM requirement? Otherwise it should work. I've had to use different parts when the game asks for CPU/GPU's I don't have unlocked yet, and it works fine.
And double check the parts are actually better with the part ranking app if you haven't already. Sometimes it's easy to get the wrong part if there are multiple variants of it.

Since you state it pass recomanded but not minimum, I start to wonder if it's not a laguage issue.
1st (so left TAB in will it run app for minecraft) is minimum and 2nd (so right TAB) is recommended

Minimum requires a I3-6100 and a GTX 750Ti with 2GB VRAM, and 1GB of RAM
Recommended requires i5-6400 and a GTX 960 with 2GB of VRAM, and 1GB of RAM as well.

Check that to see if it's not a translation issue

I went in freebuild and did a build with recommended parts, and on my side it greens both minimum and recommended as per this pic

I didn't have the screenshot, but I did check, all green on recommended, but I got a red on minimum because it was the 'wrong' graphics card. I checked also to make sure it was actually a better card, although it of course should be if it is the recommended one rather than the minimum one. Next time I'll get a screenshot to report a bug.

Proof is required.

Ok dude, was just wondering if it was something that had come up before, it kind of sounds like you're calling me a liar though - it definitely was all green on the recommended tab, and green for everything except graphics on minimum.

People make mistakes -- players, devs, troubleshooters. If you can prove the problem (preferably by sharing a save file), we can prove the cause of the problem. No name-calling. Pure proof. Pure solving.

No worries, happy to provide a save game next time. Is there a way I can upload that onto Steam somehow?

Not directly through Steam per say, but any link to any sharing site where the savefile is stored will do.
When I need to share a save, I usually simply use my google drive account, and make the link available to anyone, so then when anyone on Steam click the link, they can access that save for as long as I keep it available.

Bit of a necro, but I haven't seen any other topics mentioning this on the first page of Google search. Had this happen to me just now with GTX 1060 passing recommended yet failing to pass minimum.

According to the game Part Ranking, the lowest ranking RX 570 card is at 185

a GTX 1060 Founder Edition card is ranked at 189

Based on that, the Founder Edition card is weaker then the RX 570 card

If you replaced the Founder Edition card with a Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 AMP! Edition that is ranked 183 it should clear both the minimum and recommended

I put a but report on this in a couple weeks back, but yeah... Same stuff.

A minor overclock 'should' get it to pass, but still... Kinda annoying issue.

I understand that it's just a video game acting on 'realism' but I get kinda put off by things like this since GTX 1060 is a significantly more powerful card. I can brush off when customers send in PCs with disproportionate builds but I have kinda hoped that at least for the builds I make, I will be able to do actual good ones. :/

Makes me wonder if the game wants you to build exactly what it says. I'm working on an upgrade right now for sublevel zero, and it shows minimum i5 with gtx 960 while recommended is showing ryzen 5 with a radeon r9 380.. and the customer wants intel for recommeded..
