Dual GPU Help?
So I know how to install 2 GPU's and that you need to ensure both they and the mobo are compatible, but I can't seem to get the vram to register properly, thus preventing me from completing a job.

The job is from Largebuddy@largebrew.uk who asks me to build a system capable of running LOL at recommended specs, with a budget of 2K. One of the specs required is 8GB VRAM, which I have not yet unlocked. I assumed you could just put 2 4GB VRAM GPU's in there instead, but it's only registering on Will it Run? as 4GB VRAM is installed rather than 8GB?

Any help appreciated :)

VRAM of each card counts, not both together.

So you can't add vram in the same way you can add ram? I don't understand why people have dual GPU's in that case? I know it boosts benchmarks but still.
Dual GPU's increase the performance by roughly +80% in real life with a second card (in games that support the technology). Dual video cards do -NOT- double the Vram of the video cards. In real life basically the driver splits the rendered image in half and have one video card render the top half and the second video card render the bottom half of the image.

SLI and Crossfire have both been this way since they were created way back when. Two 8GB video cards together = 8GB Vram total available to the games. 4 x 8GB video cards still = 8GB Vram total available to the games.

That's just the way computer technology works.

Thanks, turns out the graphics card I needed was unlocked as soon as I completed literally the only other customer job I had. Can't believe I wasted that money first though lol

A tip is during those story type of jobs or even after story, if you get a job saying yo replace or upgrade something, just make sure you have it unlocked before accepting the job, or if you accedently accept and don't realise you can't buy the necessary parts, if the job has no due date, just keep the PC until you unlock it
