Just as an idea, most AV programs have an ignore list to which you can add programs that falsely trigger the AV. Bitdefender is a pretty well regarded program so I can't imagine they don't have some sort of ignore list.
The game simply wouldnt run and I was told by a dev to disable or perhaps even uninstall my AV solution and thats not acceptable to me, so I claimed a refund and decided to come back in a few weeks to see if they have fixed the problem with their game, as I do like the idea of this game and it looks very enticing indeed too. :-D
So as soon as I can get a confirmation that the game actually works, ill re-buy it and probably enjoy playing it as well. :-)
The idea of disabling/uninstalling AV was a dev in here who told me that might be necessary and thats when I decided Id leave it until its fixed. :-)
It was the only reply/suggestion I got to make the game run, so I decided to wait for a proper fix rather than using a risky workaround.
The computer I use is for more purposes than just running games and I cant risk getting some nasty virus or ransomware on it just to run a game, so I dont disable my AV software just like that......probably also why I havent had a virus since I switched away from Norton over a decade ago. :-D
Thats why I looked up the reviews and found that Bitdefender and Kaspersky were sharing 1st place everywhere (more or less).
Requirements shouldnt be a problem, im on Ryzen 5 2600, GTX1070 and 16GB Kingston HyperX 3000Mhz memory. :-)
Regarding disabling AV, I have ofc done it a few times, but not for trying to make a game work, as that shouldnt be necessary imo. ^^
I did notice a lot of ppl were running the game ok, so thats also why I figured, that AV couldnt be the real issue, as others wouldve run into that.
Wish there'd just be a demo to test out, because if itll run, ill buy it.......but im not quite sure you can have a game refunded twice on Steam?
You can try putting the game in the exceptions or switch to another AV. For now I'm using E-SET NOD32 and its doing fairly well for my needs. At least this time its actually honoring the exceptions list.. Other than that, I don't know what else there is to say regarding the matter.
If the game's EXE is still tripping BitDefender, what the developers need to do is submit the EXE to them to whitelist so that the definitions can be updated. I actually seem to recall this very topic a while back, so the advice of simply just uninstalling the AV is actually one of the stupidest things I've heard in a while. Temp disable is one thing, but not flat out uninstalling.
Regarding stealthnyess, BD is stealthy just the same as you describe esetnod to be, thats part of why I( like using it, it doesnt come up and bother you all the time, it just works.
However, in my case with this single game here, the problem doesnt even seem to be av related, thats just the sparse reply I got from a dev, rubbing it of on someone elses software, always the easiest way to get around dealing with support stuff :-P ^^
Just read thru some other threads in here, it seems my issue with the game not running is merely a petty concern compared to all the other issues with the game itself......one that hit me was the thing about having to constantly sit and wait for benchmarks, regardless of what task youre doing (can anyone confirm?) Oo
Are you absolutely positive that the person you got a response from was a dev? Unless the name was Wizzy or Frandroid, it wasn't actually a dev for this game.
As for the "sit and wait through benchmark" thing, it's really not that bad. The bench is only 90 seconds long and, unless you're just really horrible at multitasking the three to four jobs you have per day, you'll always have other stuff to do while it's running. The only time you'll ever have to worry about maybe sitting through the whole thing is in the first few levels before you can unlock the second workbench.
I recall it as an official, but Ill have to see if I can find the thread in here to verify, because I cant guaranteee a 100% whether it was a fev or not, ill see if I can find the thread. :-)
Cant find it, I dunno if it has something to do with me getting a refund and uninstalling the game?
None the less, the "Benchmark" issue sounds like its perhaps not all that bad after all and eventually I suspect theyd fix it in case several users sees it as a problem.
Ill keep following the game on Steam and re-buy when it seems to hit a point of being well functioning. :-D
Ty for all the input guys. :-)
