Problem with former customers when you overpowered their systems

Sometimes customers come again with a system you built or modded before. I now have some problems with it. I had some spare parts and therefore money left to spend so I built in better parts instead of minimum requirements. Maybe the budget or the requirements for afterwards generated jobs are not generated properly.

Examples:

Built in a 1080TI X.ed. instead of sth. lower. Now the customer wants to UPGRADE the graphics card but it's impossible for now, maybe with the 2080 or 2080ti when they are unlocked but the job is expired.

Built in a ryzen7 7700X (worth 360€) instead of minimum required 7700, now it's broken and has to be repaired but only for the money of a 7700 (350€).

Built in an MSI Z270 (185€) in a low budget intel pc because many spare parts could be used, but now the board is broken and I'm offered only the money for a Mortoni H170 (150€).

Got none of the required parts in stock and have to discard all of theese, because waiting for exactly this used part on the bay takes ages and meanwhile no further jobs come in.
And I don't want to build systems just on the lowest posible level only because some customers might come back and you can't do the following job because one of the high quality, not designated parts got broken and the budget was just scripted for sth. low level but can't be downgraded any more.

I've noticed this too. But usually only story missions return to you with computers you built for them in the past. But generally you always want to give them the minimum possible that meets their requirements. It's not a good idea to ever over-deliver in PCBS because of this exact problem. You need to "think ahead" and think about the computer you give someone returning for more work some day in the future when you finish jobs.

It's a pity when you try to do best and end up worst...

Funnily had the exact opposite, too. Needed to upgrade again but it was already good enough so only had to power on and finished it.

Well, I've had this happen a couple of times, like an upgrade to a 2tb hdd when I had put in a 2 tb hdd to begin with. It auto pinged and just needed to be booted to OS and then put in the corridor. But this is killing me on the returns for repairs. The game budgets in for what I was suppose to give them and not what I actually gave them. >.<
