PC Simulator just like car mechanic simulator, but for pc.
I know some of you have never built or repaired a car and many have never built and repaired a pc, but the medthod is the same. Sometimes to replace a broken part in a cars engine you got to remove 3/4 of the good parts to get to the broken part. It is the same way with computers, you got to remove the good part to get to the broken part. In Most PC the stock heatsink, and fan are not designed to interfere with changing out memory, but some of the custom built CPU cooler do expecially the ones with double fans, you will have to remove them before you can replace the ram under there. You have to do that in real life too. So if something is in the way of what you got to do you got to remove it to repair it or upgrade it. In real life water cooler parts are flexable and may bend, and little bit, but sometimes to get to the gut of the problem requires you to remove 1/2 the componunts of the computer. Its the same way with real life when building or fixing my computer you have to remove different things to get to the things you need.
In the game it don't matter, I always forget at least one plug before I take stuff out of the computer, but in real life forgetting to take out one plug could either fry you or the computer or both, so make sure you unplug the computer, Also the carpet thing is ok if that is all you have just don't have socks on. I have never had any problem fixing my computer on the carpet my table is glass and I don't think it can stand the weight of a computer. My desk is way too small for me to fix a computer or upgrade it, the tile is too hard, so the carpet is the best bet. Just keep in mind on carpet to discharge yourself befor eyou add or remove parts.

+1

It felt like he was going somewhere at first and then kind of forgot his point halfway through. I did enjoy the anecdote about the carpet though.

There's no carpeting in PCBS to repair computers on. Whatever it is you're smoking.. share? It seems like great stuff! :steamhappy:

You never know. The devs might get super bored one day and actually end up implementing the customizable office decor suggestion from the master suggestion thread.

If they do then I think in order to customize your decor you should have to remove the good decor. Sometimes you remove 3/4 of the office to change the flooring. Also if they do add carpeting then the game isn’t complete until they add the ability to wear socks and touch something metal to discharge yourself.

And when you get half-way through the remodel you just give up and throw everything back together half-a**ed because you don't want to deal with it anymore.

Guys, I build my own gaming computers, and because I don't have enough money to pay the huge mark up for less than ideal parts. I also don't have a computer workbench so I work on the floor, my computer desk is too small for me to work on computers, plus my tile floor is too hard to lay on, it is like cement or practically on cement, plus the tile part of my apartment would be in the way and I would keep on tripping over computer parts, so the carpet area is the only tree place out of the way I have to work on my computer. That said, carpet is not the enemy if you know how to take precautions, like not wearing socks or genes, the least clingy cloth you can find, will help you avoid being a static magnet, and just in case tough something metal to discharge yourself before handling any components. Anyways I hope that helps, the static wrist band makes it easier for when you need to use two hands, but it confines you to the case and I often find myself stuck trying to reach for a part that I put too far away, because I didn't want to damage it by rolling on it accidently. Sometimes if that is all you got you got to deal with what you have. Non of my compuers have ever stopped working because of static electricity. I built computers since the year 2000.

Also if you want to know what I been smoking I always say happy pills and fresh air, the happy pills the churnches give out in your area, and its Free!

Churnches are a conspiracy.

Is the point of this post to just teach us about static electricity and the general vibe of your apartment?

I think we're expecting too much here.

Think we have too many people who think they are moderators here. Guess what people, unless you have mod tag next to your name, then it's not up to you to decide if a post is realvant or not. Sid is decribing how he/she likes the game and giving examples.

Yes, your right in the fact that some part replacements are not simple and straight forward. You many have to remove other parts, just to get to the part your looking for and that is a very important concept when determining repair times.

Are you refering to the ESD carpet? It's acutally a great concept to bring up because it's a dangerous necessary evil. The carpet is design to drain off any static energy so you don't damage your circuit boards but it can also provide a dangerous path for high voltage energy (120 volts in US, 220 volts in Europe).

Good PC Builders should be aware of ESD dangers. Although the wrist strap is a pain in the butt, it can prevent your circuit boards from being damaged. Be cautious of your enviroment as well. Low humidity breeds dangerous ESD. Those of us who experience winter weather know all too well the shock you get getting out of a car.

ESD Dangers would be a great thing to have impact on your PC Builds in the game. Forgetting to put your wriststrap on could provide a random damage effect. Opps, you just bricked your 700 dollar video card and have to buy a new one.

So may I ask, what is the essence of this thread? Are you trying to teach the community how to build a PC IRL and in-game or how we need to be aware of ESD while building? I cannot figure out what the point is, can you please explain this to me?

There is no point. Sid1701d is just rambling on random nonsense that has nothing to do with PCBS what so ever. We still can't figure out what the heck they're going on about.

I am really confused about this, so I understand why you all "with exceptions" would be too.
It is an odd thread.
