Way to tell which CPU can be overclocked?

I'm at level 17 and have a job that requires overclocking the CPU. The motherboard and CPU I chose for the build don't give me the option to overclock. Is there a way to tell which motherboards and CPU support overclocking so I can complete the job without wasting a bunch of money of trial and error.

Yes. All Intel CPU's with the "K" or "X" designator on them and all AMD Ryzen processors, including threadripper.

With one caveat to your post: Motherboards made by either Mortoni or DFL in-game do not support overclocking.

Yes you’re right, I completely forgot skylake and Kaby lake are interchangeable for a moment. My bad, do not heed my advice here just listen to IRT on this one.

That would be because that motherboard is based on Intel's B360 chipset in real life. The B360 chipset in real life does not support overclocking. This is not a bug. The game is correct. This motherboard can not overclock in real life so it also can not overclock in the game either. Even if you install an Intel K series CPU, it still will not allow overclocking.

for best results you need to use a Z series motherboard + K cpu's for intel and preferably an X series for AMD

some non K chips can be overclocked by using the BCLK multiplier IRL but i've never tried it in game
