Colored Cables Confussion!
Anyone use the colored cables?
I have a customer that requested puple cables. I see there is a wide variety, some plain, so breeded and I wasn't sure if it made a difference or in thi sgame if you needed to purchase all of them because maybe some fit just the Hard Drive where other cables would fit the graphics car and so on. So i purchased every purple cable variety available but i can't get them to work so i can't finish the job.

I am in the build mode where you are viewing the machine and you can make changes etc.etc. I click on the cable selection from the lower menu, I then click the istall button and select the purple cable and then install the cables from there but everytime the cables are black and i can never get the purple cabales to install.

I thought well maybe that cable won't work with that component so i go through the process again and select the next purple cable just to find out that one doesn't work either. I repeated the process and tried all the purple cables but still can't get anything but the default black cables to install. Is there a trick to this, am I doing it wrong or are these cables just glitched and don't work.

Would really like to figure this out it shouldn't be brain surgery and my game is at a somplete stand still and if i progress i will miss deadline and lose sale and be stuck with this machine.

Power supply type also plays a part. You probably need to get a Modular power supply. Modular power supplies require you to provide all the connecting cables. A non-modular power supply has all the cables already attached making it so that you can't install colored cables.

Your correct BigDave, Thanks I just figured it out after tickering around, reported it in the bugs area, here is what I wrote:

OK i have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why when I select colored cables they won't appear in the build. So from what I see if your using a PSU that is None or Simi-modular and you want to use colored power cables they will work only when connected directly into the PSU. If you connect anything to the None or Simi modular PSU the colored cables that extend out of the PSU it will not add any colored cables. Why it is doing this I don't know but that is the bug

I have a build where the customer wanted all purple cables but I can't complete the job with the 550 Watts PSU which is the correct amount needed because it is a Simi-modular PSU, the machine benchmarked in at a max of 510Watts. Will have to purchase a Full Modular PSU

I don't know any jobs where color of the cables is a criteria, I know only one story job where you need 6 purple(?) lights.

Yah I remember that one, had a few builds where they wanted purple lights and one with pink. Maybe you haven't reached that far, I am level 25 and I got a build where the customer wanted all purple cables. I figured it out though it was the power supply which in all reality shouldn't make a difference, probably an over sight on the part of the developers.

Thanks for your comment Metallos and enjoy.

Maybe I reached not far enough, I'm on level 21.
The black fixed cables are like it should, only removeable cables can be changed to different color. Else you would have to open the power supply and desolder the old cables.

I never used a power supply with fixed cables that why I thought it might be a Bug. I did notice that I get jobs where the customers machine comes in and has colored cables and I remove them to say for example replace a GPU or the mother board and upon putting the machine back together if I don't have that color cable their machine gets returned with generic blck cables.

I think that there should be more cables, such as a braided orange one that isn't some ribbon cable. They also need to stop glitching in eachother, and disc drives need to be a thing too.

Seeing you mentioned disc drives, are there optical drives that can be unlocked at higher levels? I am level 25 and haven't seen any optical drives.

No, the only storage are hard disk, SSD, and M.2 drives. For now 25 is the highest level.

Your probably correct about the level 25 thing but if 25 is the highest why does it show i am almost level 26, will it max out the level 25 bar progress to 26 and then stop? I am stil getting new parts also.

That confused me at first too, but yeah, it'll get to the end of 25 and stop. Essentially 26 but it never flips the number.

It probably will in the future when they add more content and new items.
