Ryzen Threadripper ?
is it possible to get this CPU working? we only have air cooling so far. And i always get an overheat issue with the 1900x

I have the same problem the processor 1950 X is a 72 C ° and as I run the benchmark it is overheating and cut the pc air coolling is not enough
Yes I just found this problem also. I tried the free build mode and no matter what cooler I put on the 1900X it always idles at 70c - 75c at "Desktop" and will crash when running any benchmark. So currently in the game we can not cool this CPU. I think until we wait to get water cooling implemented we can not use this CPU until then.

I got the thread ripper 1950X to work but I had about 7 fans inside the Tower.
I used the mid-size towers that allow the 120m fans both in front and on top.
I also used the Mobo which allowed 128GB of ram and was still able to run the benchmark.
I would say that once water cooling is implemented it will be much better with the smaller cases/towers or custome cases when those are implemented.
I'll post a screenshot of the build and the benchmark

These 3 screens are of the build I made and benchmarked.
sometimes the fans at the bottom don't connect so it'll give me the bluescreen.

EVGA DG-87 full tower with eight QF-140 performance fans, Benchmarks at 9665 3DMarks.

Thanks TJ.. That worked ..

Use the InWin case and all the fans slots filled.

but make sure you dont use Corsair RGB Fans as these still dont work, tested aand passed on to the dev.

Unless thats been fixed in the last update.

With the last update, it now works on the Raijintek Paean.

Yeah, i see the same idling temps on each case i tried it on. That sounds rather hot. Currently, i have 3 choices of cpu cooler for the TR4 socket. Two have the same 80 CFM but different colors, One has 60 CFM.

umm put in case fans and high cfm ;) its the key moe that air.. all i can tell ya

The Ryzen Threadrippers is the best choice for water cooled cooler when they put one in.

I used the 1900X in my fun build in career mode. COSMOS case with a few extra fans (the cryo performance ones), also the air cooler with the highest air flow. Benchmarked over 10k with 2 video cards and no heating issues. I've even added two more top fans since that benchmark, so it could have been cooled more.

Well, I think 70-75c is normal with air cooling for a 1950X. I run a TR1950X irl too that and that has always been the idle temp, and the machine is near the air conditioner in my room. Cooler is a Noctua NH-U12s TR4-SP3 edition with the optional second Noctua NF-F12 installed. The case also has some very intricate airflow considerations and have carefully aligned fans on the front, top and back, and yet I'm unable to get anything better. So I think it's just the characteristics of the CPU under conventional air flow cooling. Should note that the machine is however rock solid and has never crashed under load so far, although I'm currently running Linux on and only tried using it with GCC compilation loads but I plan to get Windows 10 for it and start doing video editing with it soon.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to be using AIO coolers on the threadripper chips, per AMD's recommendations.
