Technically (in)accurate information!
Hi there, first of all , I really love and enjoy the game.
But, the game is quite innacurate and I wish for it to be more accurate in terms of information/performance of items.
Let me describe my problem.
I had to build a rig that can run "Adobe Premiere Pro CC" on minimum specs. Now, in the "Will it run?" program, the minimum processor required for this is an Intel Pentium G4500, which is a 6th gen one running on a Skylake. Pretty accurate so far. Now, I put in an Intel Pentium G4650 which is a 7th gen and runs on Kaby Lake. The latter is the newer, cheapper and more powerful version of the two. Every benchmark test there is out there will tell you the same. But somehow the game thinks its the other way around and It won't let me finish the order because of this.

Basically what I noticed , the game is not based on actual benchmarks. Also the prices are not so "accurate". In real world the G4500 is actually more expensive than the G4560 ( which is a bit more powerful ). But its not the case in the game ( not so accurate ). And I dont mean actual 1 to 1 prices as in the real world , but I ment for in comparison to other components. As is the case here.

So basically I am frankly scared to build a rig for any of the minimum/recommended requirements type of order out of my head after I have read them in the program. Because the actual performance that the game reads aren't so accurate. You either go with that EXACT product that it asks you for, or you go with the REALLY expensive and unquestionable more powerful version. If you try to work around it for a cheaper but actually better product it will not allow you to finish the order.
Thank you , I hope my post will be read by the devs and something will be done about this.

There's a program that shows what parts are better then others

Well , it is, but like I said it might be innacurate. Did not check it to be honest.

How do you find the Will it Run? program? I am definitely at that stage in the game but I still can't understand how to find that for the life of me.

You need to buy Will It Run in the online shop under Tools (like every other software in the game) and then it will be on your USB stick.

@OP: there is a tool in the game for ranking CPUs and GPUs, if its above there then it will be considered an upgrade over the other and should be faster in a benchmark.

If you found one where that order is wrong, then that is a bug and needs fixing.

The thing that bothers me is when somebody asks me to build a system for minimum spec, but i want to do them a solid and build recommended spec instead because they gave me enough money for it anyway and then it turns out the recommended spec GPU has 3GB Vram but the minimum spec GPU has 4GB Vram and it won't accept it, even when the GPU is faster in benchmarks.

The bottom line is in this game, it doesn't matter how "Inaccurate" it is. Use the in-game ranking tool and you have to build something that is faster, per the in-game ranking tool, than the chip currently in there, or exceeds the requested chip in the will it run program.

Personally just to guarantee I pass the job requirements and not waste money I always get exactly the chip required in the will it run and pass the job, and go turn it in. Yes I know they're inaccurate and wrong on performance. I try not to think too much about it and just do it and go on with the missions.

Oh well, I was hoping that the devs would do something about it.
But as you guys said, I guess we just gotta go with it.

Its not "Deffinite" The devs might make the benchmarking and prices more accurate in time. At the moment they are concentrating on getting the "Core" feature list implimented whilst removing game breaking or inconvienent bugs. Then they should consider doing this along with adding community requested content that wasnt put in earlier and then finally, optimisation and stream lining a few in game things.

We gotta just go with it for now....but nothing is set in stone. I'm sure if enough people backed this idea which im sure they will it will be implimented.

Hmm, you are right I guess. All aboard the "idea backing train" !!
Just hope the devs actually read the forums, I know they are really busy and stuff but it would be cool to know they read what their comunity want.

They do, I've seen them around quite often but more so in the bug reporting forum. Keep active, report bugs and such, learn the quirks of the game and I'm sure many ideas posted here will get implimented :)

Regarding the tools available when you level up, the description in the email announcement is not clear. Specifically:

"You will find this new tool in your shop."

To me, this means it's available to you, right now, in your office. Because, an office where you build something is a "shop."

What they really mean is, "Look in the online shop [where you purchase new parts] for this tool."

So it's an unfortunate use of "your" instead of "the," coupled with the fact that "shop" could mean a couple different things to the average, English-native-speaking user.

Nobody ever said English was easy...
